Notice of noticeboard discussion
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Please review my block. Thank you.-- RoySmith (talk) 17:40, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- RoySmith, Once unblocked, please let me know how we could possibly have that block history removed. I work VERY HARD to never violate 3RR or any other rules of wikipedia so as to keep a block-free history, and it is incredibly distressing to me that simply sending 'Happy New Years' greetings would be the thing that caused for me to receive a block.. Wow, what a horrible start to 2023 for me then. :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:51, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Also, I would like to continue sending these happy new years banners, if only for the rest of today, so unclear what their intentions really are.
- Hi, RoySmith, my "intentions" WOULD BE to keep sending IF I got a clear and express "okay", BUT I WOULD NOT without that! To be clear!!! I will listen, and always have, to the community. I am not about to be unblocked and then go right back to sending any more greetings! Sheesh! My plan upon being unblocked:
- 1. Look into how and why this happened?
- 2. See about having a block UNDONE from my history, as I literally spend ALL of my time and energy to ensure that I do everything properly and constructively so as NOT to receive a block and so as to only HELP BUILD AN ENCYCLOPEDIA
- 3. Only then, would I see about asking around and seek to understand if a consensus could be built to allow for some further 'Happy New Years' greetings to be sent, but if no such consensus was possible, then I clearly would NOT risk another block, and would NOT send any more greetings!
- 4. I hope you have a 'Happy New Year' regardless of this stressful mess RoySmith, I hope you know I meant no harm whatsoever. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:04, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
You are hilarious
Hi there. I just joined and i just found your profile, it's literally hilarious. Where you from? As for me I'm from South Africa where the lions and rhinos roam our streets lol😊 Cadesia de Bruin (talk) 18:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I try to enjoy life and ensure that we all have a good time while editing this grand old encyclopedia. I am from the United States for now, but I have visited South Africa. Cape Town and Jo-burg are great! I love the biltong and even went on a private game reserve tour to Singita way back when. Amazing place!
- I was blocked just now for sending too many 'Happy New Years' greetings to folks that are considered top editors by edit count... but if and when that block expires, I will happily get back to contributing more to the great encyclopedia! TY for stopping by, and feel free to stop by any time (and enjoy a digital cup of Tea while you're here)! — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:06, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
Please stop with the Happy New Years banners
You've been putting Happy New Years banners on people's talk pages at a high rate of speed. I assume you're using some kind of bot to do this. Please stop; it is disruptive. I've blocked your account for 1 hour to stop the onslaught. Once the block expires, you are welcome to continue editing, but please don't start up your bot again. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:24, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I do not have a bot. I simply am thanking the top several thousand editors by edit count. I have received many thanks, and not one single person has complained. It is also helping me to learn about different types of talk pages, and has been fun. Please unblock immediately. If anyone actually considered this disruptive, I would stop. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:28, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- @RoySmith: Also is there a way for you to remove the block log now from my history. It is extremely distressing to have a block now on my history. I had a perfect non-blocked history, and you would have tarnished that in a single blow for simply spreading new years cheer if in fact this now goes in my log as a block. Which I would be distressed about if in fact that is the case. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:30, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I consider it disruptive. I'm willing to unblock you now, if you agree to stop doing this. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:31, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I would agree to stop, are you able to also undo any history of me every having been blocked, that is most distressing to have been blocked without even a single warning. I am simply sitting here listening to a podcast, and was sending good new years wishes, and then boom, I sent one to you, and you blocked me instantly...... — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:32, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I have never been blocked before, and I was very proud of that. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:33, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Furthermore, I am not the only editor that sends New Years cheer. If hundreds of other editors do not consider it disruptive, who decides that it is? I can undo the message that was left on your talk page if it was disruptive to have left it there, but I have heard of no other complaint from many, many others. Why would I not be able to continue with others if 99.99% of people send me a "thank you" response or hit the "thanks" button on the edit itself? This seems very interesting, I'll need to seek other feedback as well. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:35, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I have never been blocked before, and I was very proud of that. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:33, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Endorsing RoySmith's action. I generally expect people doing this (leaving seasons' greetings and such) to have some form of relation or correspondence established with the users they are leaving notices for. Simply hitting every user in the top 1000 is disruptive. -- ferret (talk) 17:40, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I had a history with many, but even those with which I did not have a "history" with I still appreciate their work. We are all in this 'family' together in building the best possible encyclopedia! I committed already to NOT continuing if I really cannot and it is deemed disruptive by too many... That said, I have found nearly everyone else to appreciate it. Maybe they don't have a lot of other editor friends or talk page watchers, then I came along, and introduced some joy into their life. See the above talk page responses as just a smattering of the joy reciprocated. This as not intended to disrupt and frankly, I'd like it re-articulated in terms of HOW it disrupts to me please so that I can learn, but I will stop nonetheless if in fact it is disruptive.
- Also, I'd request humbly that since I acknowledged to stop (unless we can agree that it is harmless and that I can continue), that my block from my block history be removed, since I was left ZERO warning for this. I just edit quickly.... what can I say? I was shocked to see I was blocked with zero warning of any kind. I would have responded to a warning. That seemed completely uncalled for. I revert vandalism regularly using Rollback and AntiVandal tools (created by Ingenuity and am used to the idea of disruptive editing and in particular the practice of LEAVING A WARNING BEFORE ANY BLOCK WOULD BE IMPLEMENTED... Ugh, my perfect record of no blocks!! O.O Gone! — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:47, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I have unblocked you. I will take you on your word that you will stop sending these. -- RoySmith (talk) 18:07, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Of course I will stop! But now I would just like to ask about the block history being removed. That is a deep scar and I am wounded by it. I do not know if you have been blocked before or not, but I would really like to have that removed if possible. Deeply saddened that we could not have solved this with a simple warning.... I am not here to be a vandal, you should have checked my permissions and seen that in fact I revert hundreds of acts of vandalism a day in some cases. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:09, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I am currently in the act of applying for a "new pages reviewer" permission as well, and this "block" might just harm that potential of earning that perm... even more distress on top of the long term scar of the block that could have been avoided with a simple warning. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:10, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I am not aware of any way to erase the log entry. -- RoySmith (talk) 18:11, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- That is simply awful. All this work to now be tainted by a single action taken in mere seconds... :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:12, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

A kitten for you!
I'm sorry you got blocked for sending out New Year's greetings -- I know it must feel terrible. Here is a kitten to hopefully cheer you up.
— hike395 (talk) 22:50, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- TY kindly for that cute little kitten. I am still definitely butt hurt over the block, it truly did ruin my day, and was a rotten start to a new year (over trying to send 'Happy New Years' greetings no less!), but I am trying to meditate and move on from the pain. I work hard on this project so it just really felt like an ice pick to the heart. I'd appreciate it too if the original admin that blocked seemed like he cared, but I believe he felt I truly was being really disruptive, and while I know we both acted in good faith, him and I both, it definitely seems like it affected me much more than him. :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:03, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

Although I was not one of the recipients of the Happy New Year messages, looking over this talk page and the ANI thread, it's clear you were acting in good faith and just wanted to spread cheer. I agree a warning before block would've been better, but given that it was literally for giving out Happy New Year messages, I don't think too much attention will be paid to it and people don't usually go out of their way to look at block logs, but it still sucks. Happy New Years banners
To anyone reading this that may review my latest block from RoySmith. I was not, am not, using a bot or AWB for any sort of banner additions of Happy New Years. I just believed that the top several thousand editors by edit count deserved some good wishes for the new year. I edit quickly, that is to be sure, but I do not even know how to make a bot. I was sitting at my desk, listening to a podcast, sending these good wishes for a happy new year, when RoySmith blocked me without any warning whatsoever. I am greatly distressed by that block without warning, and would also like to request that the block not only be undone, but also that the block be removed from my history, if possible. If that is not possible, then that is distressing, but I'd like to know what other option I can take, as I was most proud of my history of no blocks.
Also, I would like to continue sending these happy new years banners, if only for the rest of today. It was only for the new year and then never the rest of the year. Jeez. Everyone else was happy to have received one! I'll be sure to note to not send one to RoySmith next year! :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:41, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with Roy. It's a nice sentiment but placing it on hundreds of talk pages actually makes it rather impersonal, and this kind of mass editing is generally considered disruptive (editors who have made this a long-term pattern of behaviour have been banned by ArbCom, for example) so a one-hour block was reasonable to get your attention and force a stop. Had I seen that you were doing this on such a scale I would have done something similar myself. But hopefully you've got the message and in half an hour you can find an article to write or something else productive to do and forget this happened. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 17:52, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- A single warning would have equally been met with me stopping. I treasure my block-free history, and am now very stressed out about that. :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:53, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I could easily "...forget it happened" and go on to other things, though dozens of editors appreciated it, and I was not and am not using a bot! The PROBLEM is that I have seen OTHER editors that hold any and all blocks against you too! It is such a nice thing to have never been blocked, and it is most distressing that I was blocked without any warning whatsoever. I have the rollback permission and regularly use the AntiVandal tool, I am not here to disrupt or break down the encyclopedia, or to game the system, and I feel like I was slapped in the face for handing out cookies. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:55, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I have to agree. Not sure why it was escalated to a block so quickly. Sergecross73 msg me 17:57, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I would like to see if the block could be reversed and then any history of the block removed from my pristine editing record. I word extremely hard not to break any rules or ruffle feathers, and I am most stressed now on this second day of the year for having been blocked without warning. I was just "in a groove" and had a podcast going on loud volume and was probably just in a good flow and editing quickly, but no one seemed to mind, and in fact most people were very happy to receive good wishes! :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:59, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think it's pretty rare for blocks to be expunged entirely, but the fact that it was so extremely brief, coupled with the fact that you can always save a link to the ANI discussion that shows consensus against the block, and you shouldn't have to worry about anyone realistically holding the block against you. Sergecross73 msg me 18:25, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, well I am in the midst of applying for a new perm (new page reviewer) and so I was distressed that this might be held against me for that. I regularly have seen it where at the very least they might ask me to wait a few more months now before re-applying for the perm. That would be very stressful indeed if that was just caused by my manually sending 'Happy New Years' greetings! Ugh! :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:29, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think a block log can be cleared, I had a similar instance with the BD2412 block. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:35, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello Moops. I am sorry that you were blocked for being friendly :-( Unfortunately, block logs can't be expunged (unless things have changed in the last couple years) but, you are not alone in having a block in the log that was unwarranted. My first block was a misclick of some sort. Thanks again for you New Year's greeting and best regards! MarnetteD|Talk 18:37, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you FlightTime and MarnetteD for the words of encouragement and support. It really means a whole lot to me. I try really, really hard to never do wrong on the encyclopedia, and certainly would have just hoped for a warning if nothing else before a full blown block. Feels very rough to start off the new year with that, and FOR sending 'Happy New Years' greetings nonetheless! The irony is painful! :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:49, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hello Moops, I am also sorry that you were blocked for being friendly. I don't know if it is a consolation, but: I have never looked at a block log. It really doesn't matter much, even for others, and if it does for someone, you know what kind of a person that is. - Thank you for explaining why you gave a "card" to me, - I wondered but was too busy to ask yet. If you want to do something like this again, some tips: don't take the top editors, but some in the middle field. Best: give it to folks who otherwise don't get a single greeting. I was blessed with many, three alone of the template you used. You could make one of your own design. Another reason to avoid the top performers: they are one many watch lists, - your name is on my watch list 302 times right now, - which pushes articles "out" that would need my attention more. - Happy new year, nice to meet you! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:54, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you Gerda. It is mostly "looked at" I think when applying for new perms and stuff like that. I have an outstanding request for the perm 'New Page Reviewer' that is on hold, and I seriously hope that this block does not adversely affect my chances of being awarded that perm. I am just trying to help in all the best ways that I can, and felt that spreading some joy for New Years was going to be a fun little way to kick off a few hours for the new year! Alas, I was blocked for spreading this joy, and without warning to boot! It really burns me that I was not even warned first... :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 19:01, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I hope you'll overcome that burn - there's more to life. Did you read my card? Or find out about the fly on my user talk? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:06, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi again M. Considering the editors who have objected it is probably a good idea to stop with the NY's message for the time being. Some people are just downers and others don't like receiving any kind of message. I know this will be disappointing to you - my apologies for that. One thought is you could just post a template at the top of your user page - yur talk page - or both saying that you wish everyone a very "Happy 2023" I know it is not quite the personal touch that you intended but it will avoid more compalaints. MarnetteD|Talk 19:10, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Gerda, I did, TY very much for the joy you've spread. I have looked over your user page, and I cannot find the fly of which you speak?? Please point him (or her) out to me! Also, is it a named fly as well? Mine is named Edward Pennington, and is a lawyer/esquire attorney-at-law. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 19:19, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, - spreading joy, that's such a great way to say. - I said user talk page, no? That fly (not by me but nagualdesign), has many names that you can study when you click on it. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:28, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- If you can't find it look for "in memoriam" --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:30, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt:, I found your fly!!! Does yours have a name? Maybe it could be friends with Edward? Is it a male? A female? Is it a friendly fly? Yours seems to be introverted as it does not scroll up and down with me on the screen as Edward does. Yours stays put right there, though it does 'wiggle' side-to-side a bit. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 20:53, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

- I hope you'll overcome that burn - there's more to life. Did you read my card? Or find out about the fly on my user talk? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:06, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think a block log can be cleared, I had a similar instance with the BD2412 block. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:35, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- A single warning would have equally been met with me stopping. I treasure my block-free history, and am now very stressed out about that. :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:53, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hey Moops, people above are right, block logs can't be expunged. You have two choices, and there are pros and cons to each. First (and, my personal suggestion) is to let it go; anyone looking at your block log should realize this is small potatoes and I'd be surprised if it ever affected anything. If anyone ever uses that block to prevent you from doing something you want to do, please let a competent admin know. Or, second, if you want, I can add a 1 second block to your block log that says a consensus at AN found that the block was excessive, with a link to the AN discussion. The problem with this method is that, in the process of explaining, it's making your block log 50% even longer. It's completely up to you which one you want to do. Happy New Year! --Floquenbeam (talk) 19:39, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- I see. I do not know what is really best there to be honest. Sounds like a sophie's choice where both options are possibly equally bad, but I do not know for sure. I just wish that the block could be removed altogether in cases like this... truly a shame that that does not seem to be an option, even for administrators! — Moops ⋠T⋡ 19:43, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
- Moops, technically it is possible to remove block log entries, but that is done only in very rare cases. For example Giano had a block that was removed from logs by developers per arbcom request. But really there is no need to worry about this block, I think the log reflects poorly on RoySmith rather than on you. The "no recent blocks" criteria at WP:PERM is not a rigid rule, accidental or obviously bad blocks are not held against you. You can add an explanation in your userpage to give context about it for anyone who would look at your block log in future. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ (talk) 05:00, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

- A link to this thread would be sufficient. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:36, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, bad blocks happen; in my opinion the function of the block log is not to document a user's sins but rather merely to list uses of the block function, including those which should ideally not have happened. Of course, it's a matter of concern if the block reason contains mention of something like "hate speech" as with the case ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ mentioned, but I doubt anyone would think less of you for this one.
- I wouldn't worry about it, Moops. CharredShorthand (talk) 05:55, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- TY both for the added encouragement. I guess I likely wont pursue getting this block purged then, it seems to be a herculean ordeal anyway. Also, I am beginning to see this a bit of a scar that might ultimately 'add character' to my overall reputation then. :) At least that is the positive spin that I am telling myself to feel better about it.... — Moops ⋠T⋡ 16:04, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
Happy continuation!
Hi Moops, I just wanted to add my thanks for the New Years greeting – it was really nice to get it! My own neurodiversity brain chemistry thingy together with my Scandinavian introverted cultural background mean that I tend to lose touch with editors I'm friendly with, and I edit all over the place with few areas of specialisation – so even though I'm a fairly prolific editor I'm not one of the friendly types who get loads of greetings. That's just one of those things, but it made me appreciate your gesture all the more :-)
Today's piece of trivia: in Swedish, the New Year's greeting changes from "Gott nytt år" (Happy new year) to "God fortsättning" (literally: Happy continuation) a few days into the new year. I hope you will have an excellent 2023! --bonadea contributions talk 13:13, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- God fortsättning to you as well then. What a marvelous response! TY so very much for this reply, you made me smile today. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 16:05, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
Your templated greetings
Hi again Moops. So - and I say this as someone who defended you and opposed your block - you might want to take it easy with the greetings again. The consensus was very much so against you being blocked for that. But there was still a fair amount of editors who felt that while the block was premature, that you were still sending too many template messages out. I checked and it looked like you had sent out like 200 already today. A lot are going to see that as excessive.
Again, personally, I'm not bothered. But if you wish to stay out of wiki-drama, you might want to think about...moving on to something else. (Not sure about your time zone or culture, but where I'm at, we've almost wrapped up our third day of 2023 now, and usually have wrapped up our new year wishes by now.)
Anyways, just a thought. Trying to keep you out of trouble. Sergecross73 msg me 23:07, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Sergecross73 I can stop then if it is a problem. I am not trying to upset anyone. I was planning on sending another 544 from now until close of day for me. Would that likely step on more toes? :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:09, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- My goal was to send around 2,000 total. I sent 1,456 as of this writing if I am not mistaken. That was my goal at least... I'd finish that up and be done unless it is likely to re-open a wound that I would very much prefer stay healed (or healing still!). Yesterday was an extremely rough day for me emotionally... :( — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:15, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- The norms around here are to send them to people you generally interact with on somewhat regular basis. I don't know about you, but I've been here 14+ years, and am very active in multiple Wikiprojects and there's no way I regularly interact with 200 editors. Let alone 500+.
- Again, I am not upset with you or warning you, I'm just giving my two cents. You don't have to listen. But if I were in your situation...I'd move on to writing an article or engaging in a community discussion or something. Sergecross73 msg me 23:15, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Oh and that would definitely be my plan upon finishing what I started. Maybe it is a combination of OCD and autistic spectrum things, but I always tend to feel a strong 'itch' until I finish a goal that I give myself. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:17, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Also, I DO appreciate your feedback, and I can tell you are not upset with me. I really do appreciate that. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:18, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- Lastly, I just want to add that I think we all tend to only thank the MOST active out there, and the secondary and tertiary editors might sometimes get left out. Something that I was hoping to strive to reach in this final approximately ~500 or so editors that I would send greetings to right now if it were not too much trouble, but I also now feel like I am navigating a minefield of 'Happy New Years' greetings. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:22, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

I am sorry that you got blocked. I sent out hundreds of holiday messages and thankfully I did not catch a block. Bruxton (talk) 03:10, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for that :(. It definitely soured my new year at first. I was pretty freaking upset over what seemed to be a knee jerk reaction without any thought at all, but ultimately I am probably going to be okay. It still sucks that it forever leaves a 'black mark' of sorts on my block log that was previously completely clean, some administrators don't put much thought into their actions before acting I suppose, but in the end, I just hope it serves as a learning experience and gives everyone room for pause and others are helped by my experience. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 14:40, 5 January 2023 (UTC)

- TY also very kindly Sarrail! To be fair, I think my 'block' (which lasted all of about 15 minutes...) was largely in error, and that even RoySmith would admit to such. I believe he thought that my autistic-super-fast-editing-self was just a bot, and was trying to protect the encyclopedia. All is forgiven. Just figured I'd let you know that if you see edits from this account, it is simply me (Blaze Wolf) editing from my alt so I can test out UltraViolet while it is still in Beta so I Don't end up screwing up my RedWarn configs on my main account. I am impressed with how you've adorned your UTP...especially getting the fly to disappear behind the TOC. Hello Moops. I noticed your attempt to add a missing ping. Unfortunately, that method does not work. The notifications system only informs a user when you link their username in the same saved edit as you successfully sign your post. A ping cannot be fixed in a later edit by adding your signature or fixing a botched username. Instead, reference the user by adding [[User:Example]]
to an edit summary, or use one of the other methods at Help:Fixing failed pings. CharredShorthand (talk) 15:37, 7 January 2023 (UTC)

Your talk page
Please consider WP:TALKCOND, if you decide to archiving, I can set that up for you. - FlightTime (open channel) 18:01, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think I will be archiving any time soon. What specific thoughts or parts of WP:TALKCOND did you wish to draw my attention to? - WP:TALKCOND actually redirects to Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Archiving (not the entire page). The guidelines there suggest that a talk page should be archived once it reaches 75,000 bytes, and yours is currently 77,031 bytes. While it is ultimately up to you (WP:OWNTALK says
"[t]he length of user talk pages, and the need for archiving, is left up to each editor's own discretion."

- There are lots of respectable Wikipedians who regard that size as a suggestion, and who choose to ignore it, so it's very much up to you whether you do anything about it or not. Any way that I might be able to move the tea cup up ever so slightly to that it is no in the way of the 'skip to the top and bottom' buttons? I like these buttons a lot by the way and really plan to keep them. - Also, I just started a new talk page thread on this, so maybe we could once and for all have a single suggested use. It is not yet an RfC, since this could help to determine what the RfC ought to read as. If you want to help me word what an RfC might look like on this, I'd be open to that. I think we need to come down as far as the MOS is concerned on one side for date conventions or another, and personally, I would strongly urge CE/BCE, since it is the more neutral of the two date-style conventions in academia at least, which could easily benefit Wikipedia too. Talk page
I know this was already discussed in a section above, however I would suggest considering talk page archiving as your talk page is getting a bit hard to navigate with all the Happy New Year and Wikilove posts. If you need help figuring it out just ask me and I will set it up for you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:14, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind if you try setting it up, and then if I don't like it, I will revert your edit (no offense intended, but it will be easiest to undo it that way if I decide I don't like it). Would you mind helping me out with it then under that condition? TY :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 21:56, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- What about User:Evad37/OneClickArchiver? That one could come in handy, but really wouldn't do that (especially with lots of sections above.) - | maxarchivesize = 150K Changes how big the archives get (in KB) before it creates a new one

Tilt on my TOC
Sometimes my TOC 'tilts', and other times (such as now), it does not. This is a question for my various TP stalkers—whom I admire so much—I would be curious to know if you see the same thing, and if maybe there is some condition wherein it does not 'kick in' unless the TOC is of a certain length maybe before it begins to 'tilt'? TY :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 07:42, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I definitely see the same thing, sometimes it just looks less tilted, and sometimes it looks like it's barely tilted at all. Grapefanatic (talk) 14:41, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- Looking at the source code for the module you're using, Module:RexxS, the degree of tilt is random. Technically it changes every 4 seconds, but in practice the MediaWiki software will not update it continuously, so it basically only appears to change 1) when the page is edited, 2) when Special:Purge is used to force the update. CharredShorthand (talk) 16:05, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I also think it changes when the page is reloaded, not quite sure though.-- Grapefanatic (talk) 16:30, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- When I try reloading it doesn't change - I have to purge it to see any difference. (Or edit.) CharredShorthand (talk) 16:45, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- Looking at where another editor used to have a tilted TOC, I found the following formatting:
- When I try reloading it doesn't change - I have to purge it to see any difference. (Or edit.) CharredShorthand (talk) 16:45, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- I also think it changes when the page is reloaded, not quite sure though.-- Grapefanatic (talk) 16:30, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

- That looks to me like you can set it to a chosen amount of tilt (–2 deg in the example) and have it stay there all the time, instead of the "wobble". Maybe that would be a workable alternative? --Tryptofish (talk) 20:08, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Jumping earth
Hi Moops
What do you want people to do: revere you for your exorbitant work to make the earth jump or to read the text in the main area?
I wish you would decide for one.
Another solution: If you have to brag about your skills, then, PLEASE, at least let it stop after the e.g. 3rd jump. I know this is possible. Can you do THIS too?
I -- can't concentrate on the text if there is constant movement somewhere else.
For me, personally, on your page, I feel like being tortured or raped constantly by a sadist.
Besides: I have read a rule that the user page is not your private home page (meaning: web site) and is only there to tell/contain those things about or for you which are relevant to wikipedia.
Ping welcome, Steue (talk) 15:51, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
- "raped constantly by a sadist" is very dramatic phrasing for this. At any rate, if you add this to your common.css, it will not display:

tortured or raped constantly by a sadist.
because of a "Jumping earth"... Hyperbole much? :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 21:02, 23 January 2023 (UTC)- Way too much hyperbole. BilCat (talk) 02:29, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Namely the part about being. "...
You are right: we didn't have any contact before.
I didn't mean to accuse you of intentionally torturing me; I sayd: "I feel like being ... ." I never got tortured nor raped, so I was just imagining a cause. But indeed I'm over-[sensib/irritata]ble as to repettitive noises (like in the "music" of the last 40 years) and constantly moving things. I e.g. would never have anything dangling from my interior mirror in my car, or e.g. one of theses little female hula dancers for the dash board - at least not on my dash board.
I don't recall exactly how I came to your page, but I guess it was in the sequence of the current (hot) discussion about the new skin, maybe on the talk page of someone or something else. Sorry, that I can't answer your question more precise.
Ping welcome, Steue (talk) 01:34, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- It is fine. I was just wondering. Did you get the issue fixed on your end? Personally I like all the movement on my talk page, for me it keeps it alive and spicy. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 01:43, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Moops, I find it quite annoying too. Please remember that many Wikipedia readers are Neurodivergent, and things like that can affect them mentally in ways it might not affect others. The fly is smaller, so it doesn't intrude as much as big globe. BilCat (talk) 02:28, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I found the globe on other editors pages, and borrowed it from them. Is there a global ban on the use of such bouncing globes? I also am neurodivergent, but not affected by movement I suppose. In some ways it actually helps me to focus by having things moving in my peripheral vision. In the case of neurodivergence, one problem that is difficult to solve for is that by helping one divergence, you may 'harm' another. Any thoughts there? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:31, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- "Please remember that many Wikipedia readers are Neurodivergent, and things like that can affect them mentally in ways it might not affect others" this is true, however it doesn't affect everyone the same. I don't really find it all that distracting since it's not that big (if I forget about it which is hard then I might notice it and think it's something else), and I don't believe there's any policy that says you can't have moving images on your talk page (altho it can get annoying after a bit) so I suppose it's fine unless multiple people complain about it. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:34, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Good point Blaze Wolf. Once again too, I found it on numerous other editor's talk pages, and borrowed it. I did not come up with the wiki-markup for such a globe. I did find the OP's post about it to be somewhat hyperbolic to say the least though. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:36, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- On another note, I notice that your talk page has been vandalized 42 (the answer to life the universe and everything) times. Have you considered requesting it be protected if it starts getting out of hand? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:36, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I did request it a day or two ago... or something... sometimes I lose track of time. I love The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and am very familiar with the significance of 42. "How many roads must a man walk down?" is the ultimate question of course too. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:38, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I don't know if the protection was granted or not though... but it sure would be nice to have. Can such a protection be granted permanently? Or is that seen as giving special treatment etc.? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:38, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- That's why I phrased it as "can affect them mentally in ways it might not affect others". Different ways was implied. BilCat (talk) 02:41, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

tjis new Reply software is also quite annoying
What is "tjis" you mention in your latest edit summary? :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:47, 24 January 2023 (UTC)- "This". My spellcheck is quite annoying too! It chooses when it wants to work, and I was distracted by a jumping globe! BilCat (talk) 02:50, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- And now disabled. Edward's still around though, which is fine. At least he doesn't jump much. BilCat (talk) 02:57, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Disabled just on your end right? So each individual user/editor can choose to do that? Because personally I want it bouncing for me. TY :)
- P.S.
- I am glad that Edward seems to be pretty universally popular. Also, the cup of tea, and the top/bottom buttons. I aim to please. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 03:00, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, on my end. I added the coding above to my CSS. You might be able to limit the bouncing for everyone else, but enable the perpetual bouncing just for yourself. Someone else might have an idea how to do that, but I sure don't. BilCat (talk) 03:13, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think there isn't consensus on the bouncing being a negative, so without that, I will elect to allow individuals to 'turn it off' as they deem necessary if that is alright. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 03:19, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- For the benefit of editors who don't want to see it, but who haven't gone to the effort of modifying their common.css (which is asking for some effort on the part of others), one alternative might be to have the bouncy earth stay there, but just stay at the top of the page, instead of moving up and down as the reader moves up and down. I don't know offhand how to do that, but if you are interested, I can look for it. --Tryptofish (talk) 18:20, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I personally really like it. As I mentioned above, it actually helps me to focus when I have movement in my peripheral vision. So I would elect to see more broad based criticism before making such a decision. I choose to leave it be then if I can for now... :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:22, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think that's a decent idea (although it looks weird when on top of the Wikipedia logo) actually Trypto. There's probably some way for you to modify your own CSS to make it move with the page scrolling, but i Could be wrong. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:26, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I played around a little with it, and I found a way to have it be not on top of the WP logo, but more like just under where it says User talk:Moops at the top, and it just stays there instead of moving down the page. If, Moops, you want, I can do it, and you can simply revert my edit if you don't like it. Entirely up to you. --Tryptofish (talk) 18:31, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I like it moving up and down as is personally, but I wonder if we could offer technical details for individuals on my talk page (and/or user page) on how to make these modifications? Also, if there would be a way to ensure that that explanation does not get archived would be good.. :) Since I was helped to recently set up an archive. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:34, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I'm fairly sure lowercase sinebot (the bot that archives your talk page) won't archive anything that isn't signed, or you could use the {{pin}} template to pin it at the top. However I Feel it would be much easier if we simply just made the default not moving and possibly create some CSS to make it so it still appears to move up and down for you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:38, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- It would also work to put the instructions in something like Template:Tmbox or one of its relatives, but I'd recommend against it. There's a sort-of unspoken norm on Wikipedia that it should be easy for anyone who wants to contact you on your talk page to be able to do it, and if you start setting up instructions on how to do a special case, it goes against the culture here. So my two cents would be not to post any instructions, and just leave the bouncy earth the way that you like it, or even better, do what Blaze Wolf says. --Tryptofish (talk) 18:43, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I like both of you enough that I can be muscled into doing this suggestion if that is what the consensus dictates here. Perhaps then we keep it bouncing, but leave it at the top of the page so that it does not follow the reader down as they scroll.. Though my ideal preference would be the status quo. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:45, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- If we can't figure out how to create CSS to make it so it will still follow you as you scroll for you then I suggest we change it to stay at the top. Otherwise I guess we should just leave it alone until more people start complaining. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:47, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- I think Trypofish said that he knows how to do that? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:48, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I think he was jsut saying that my idea was a good one and not that he could do it. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:49, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ah. Well, now I noticed the so called 'jumping earth' is stuck at the top, as we discussed, but that it has also moved over to the right... whereas it used to be over on the left. Are we able to keep it in its original position, just not tracking the user down as they scroll? I really think the status quo original option was a decent one, so long as it isn't upsetting a hoard of folks. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:52, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

What you saw was my test edit of making it stay, without being superimposed on the WP logo, which both Blaze Wolf and I think looks odd. But since you didn't like it, I self-reverted: [1]. If you want to reinstate the change, you can revert my revert (revert that diff). I couldn't figure out how to put it on top of the logo, so you would have to ask someone else. --Tryptofish (talk) 18:58, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks Tryptofish. I will have to say, and maybe this is selfish, but I am going to leave the burden of investigating this to those that might wish to see the change implemented. I think that is fair, and I will not insist they stop if they come up with such a workable solution. In the meantime, back to reverting vandalism and other copy edits etc., which is what I prefer to work on rather than discussing the jumping logo on my talk page. :)
- I appreciate the time you put in to trying to help, but I am going to move on for now. Have a nice day/morning/evening or whatever it is based on wherever it is that you live. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 01:00, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

thanks to moops
Hi moops It's me, the guy that you let me know when I was spam chatting on the website page before I had an account, I don't know how to add a barnstar so this is the best I can do. Nice user2 (talk) 17:56, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- Left a message on your talk page about it. You should see a "heart" along the top area of my screen on my talk page, click that to give any "wiki-love" if you are so inclined. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 18:45, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Recent Changes Patrolling
Hi Moops! I've seen you around but I don't believe we've interacted much. I wanted to say thanks for the work you're doing on recent changes patrolling! Or maybe I'm just trying to distract you with a talk page message so I can beat you to at least one revert, who knows? Kidding :) Anyway, you're doing good work and I wanted to let you know it's appreciated!
On a completely unrelated note, I had a question regarding the "thanks" feature you might be able to answer: I thanked you for this revert on Sasha Williams (The Walking Dead) from the diff itself, which took me to an extra screen to send thanks. (I think this is new from Vector 2022, as I've not seen it so frequently with 2010.) Anyway, when I checked in the article history, it didn't indicate that I had thanked you for that edit, so I did it from the article history as well. Does it let you know twice?
I wish you pleasant patrolling and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 05:46, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Your words made me smile today. Thank you kindly for sharing this with me, and for your appreciation of my work on the Recent Changes Patrol. I do try my best to be careful, but still speedy, with all of my vandalism reverting and warning. I highly recommend the tool Wikipedia:AntiVandal made by user:Ingenuity. It is singlehandedly THE reason that I am able to do what I do, as fast as I do it. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 14:46, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Regarding your question on the "thanks" feature, I am not sure about that. Thank you though anyway for the "thanks"! I really appreciate those as well! TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 14:46, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- In my experience, shortly after one sends a "thanks" for an edit, it says "thanked" next to the edit in the page history, but this stays there only for a little while. After some amount of time (I'm not sure how long), the "thanked" notation no longer appears. (In most interfaces, one also has to confirm before the "thanks" actually gets sent.) --Tryptofish (talk) 19:03, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Interesting. TY
- I hope that helped @Perfect4th:? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 19:56, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- Always happy to share a smile! I've been a bit wary of Huggle because it seems a rather complicated interface, so I'll have to take a look at the AntiVandal tool. Also, very interesting, Tryptofish, thank you both! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 05:31, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- I personally do not use, nor like, Huggle. Though I know many editors that swear by it and love it a lot. So there is that. Twinkle is great to start, but AV is without a doubt the very best in my humble opinion. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 13:07, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ingenuity deserves substantial praise in my opinion. I believe AV is one of the best, strongest, easiest-to-use anti-vandalism tools on this entire website. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 13:08, 11 February 2023 (UTC)

Dude, you're awesome.
I wish I could revert vandalism as fast as you, you're faster than the speed of light for God's sake.
Keep on keepin' on, dude.
ThisIsHowIAm (talk) 15:59, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- TY kindly for those nice words. You actually can though. You just need to same tools that I use. Get on the whitelist with @Ingenuity: who invented the AntiVandal tool. It changed my whole world on Wikipedia. Truly a game changer. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 16:04, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- I do have the AntiVandal script installed, but it's very confusing and a bit disorganized, but I'll get used to it :) Tails Wx 23:18, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- It took me a second too... but you just need to get your fingers used to the keyboard and using the '[' and ']' for going back and forth (up and down) on the pages you are reviewing for vandalism, and then just with your left hand, hit the 'Q' key any time to revert a clear vandal edit. It is in fact "...faster than the speed of light..." hahaha. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:26, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Is there a specific key to hit to warn the vandal? Tails Wx 23:27, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Hitting 'Q' warns them in the same second that it reverts it. It even scales the warning to the level that is most appropriate, and will not warn them if they have been warned 4 times already so you never have to worry about overwarning. If it says that though, then you can even click the 'report' button below, and then choose from the drop down menu how to report them, which it will then do automatically as well. It is mind blowingly awesome and I cannot possibly praise @Ingenuity: enough for creating the tool. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:29, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification! My friend can go fast, not sure about going fast on keyboard, though... Anyways, thanks for pointing this out, this'll hopefully make my work at AntiVandal much easier and faster! Tails Wx 23:36, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, and I am happy to be an evangelist of the AntiVandal tool. It is honestly my favorite tool on all of WP. I wish they allowed newer users to try it it out as well without RB, but I gather that it IS quite powerful, and so I guess Ingenuity in particular is wary of abuse of the tool. Makes sense I gather from that perspective. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:41, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- 1 final question, are there any other buttons/keys (other than the "left arrow" and "right arrow") that you can use to skip between edits? Tails Wx 23:46, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Tails Wx (talk page stalker) space or "]" to go to the next edit, "[" for the previous, or you can use the arrow buttons located at the top of the screen. The full list of controls is located at Wikipedia:AntiVandal#Controls. If you'd like any more hotkeys, please let me know! — Ingenuity (talk • contribs) 23:52, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

- Also @Tails Wx:... a "pro-tip" that my semi-autistic self uses to truly optimize for maximum efficiency and speed with the AntiVandal tool is that I will not lift up my fingers from the keys when reverting vandalism and patrolling with AV. That slows me down too much. I make sure to just leave the finger 'pad' placed directly on the
- 'Q' key, as well as my middle finger and ring finger of my right hand for the right side of my keyboard for the '[' and ']' (left/right) keys. I find this saves me valuable milliseconds when it comes to getting the revert in near instant time. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 00:12, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

- Yes, Ingenuity has created one of the coolest tools on all of WP, and is very responsive around feedback and improvement as you can see! I love it! I personally think that it is nearly perfect... as they say also, "If it ain't broke! Don't fix it!" :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 00:06, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, Ingenuity and Moops for your help! Tails Wx 23:59, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- 1 final question, are there any other buttons/keys (other than the "left arrow" and "right arrow") that you can use to skip between edits? Tails Wx 23:46, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification! My friend can go fast, not sure about going fast on keyboard, though... Anyways, thanks for pointing this out, this'll hopefully make my work at AntiVandal much easier and faster! Tails Wx 23:36, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Is there a specific key to hit to warn the vandal? Tails Wx 23:27, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- I do have the AntiVandal script installed, but it's very confusing and a bit disorganized, but I'll get used to it :) Tails Wx 23:18, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
Part 2 - Exercises
Hi, Moops - I added 5 more exercises for you to work on yesterday, and just wanted to let you know that these exercises are in the NPP queue, so other reviewers are also working on them. I have to change the 1st one I added for you because it was draftified today. Let me know if you're going to work on these today because this exercise is the one exception to having a deadline. Best, Atsme 💬 📧 14:23, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Atsme: Please send me a new 5, I will be free in about an hour from now and then for the rest of the day. I want to get this done today, I have a lot of other pressing life items to attend to, and looking to prove my worth for NPP today so that I can attend to those. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:43, 18 February 2023 (UTC)
Black tea?
I personally take my tea with no milk or sugar. I would like to change the image of the tea cup in the bottom right to a teacup with black/green tea that has no added milk or cream etc. Any lovely TP stalker know how to do this, and care to help implement it? I would appreciate your kind assistance. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 16:18, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- It would require a different image. I'll have to do some digging to find one. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:20, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ok I did a quick look through Commons:Category:Cups of black tea and Commons:Category:Cups of green tea and there aren't really any that would work well for a replacement since none of them are transparent images and have some sort of background. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:24, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- I see. Well, thank you BW for trying anyway. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 16:47, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yep. There might be a better image that isn't located on Commons but I didn't see any on Commons. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:49, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'll give it a shot, maybe there are some files on Wikipedia that contains tea with no milk, no sugar, and a specific background. Maybe I'll go into Commons, I'll spend some time there uploading images and searching for them. Tails Wx 16:56, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- TY Tails Wx. Do not kill yourself looking for it, but I am grateful. I do not like the look of this milky/cloudy tea, but I prefer it over no tea at all. TY again both of you. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 16:58, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Don't worry, I won't kill myself looking for it ;) Anyways, first hits indicate tea, but WITH cream AND milk! Guess I'll have to look further into it. Tails Wx 17:05, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ok so I Just decided to search just Tea and I found File:Cup of black tea.JPG. Is this what you're wanting Moops? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:09, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- If it's good enough, guess I'll call off my search, which is good, because I don't want to scroll through images so much as it becomes tiring to do so. Tails Wx 17:11, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- I blame Commons' inconsistent categorization. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:24, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- I will say, I appreciate both of your effort. I will look as well. How do you search for images that have no background?
- Blaze, that one that you found seems to be the right kind of tea, but is rather odd in being in a clear glass. Maybe we apply that one until/if a better one can be found. TY — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:28, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- I agree. Tails Wx 17:29, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Updated the tea cup, but it is showing this white rectangular background that the other image did not appear to show. Also, it is a little askew, instead of centered over the 'top of page' and 'bottom of page' buttons. Any way to fix its centering? I think 150px is roughly the 'right' size, but I am open to changing its size too if there is an 'optimal' size in terms of best aesthetic appearance. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:35, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- internal screaming about images with a white background I think I can just request this image be made transparent as I see no reason for it to not have a transparent background. Also it'll probably just need to be moved to the right a little bit. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:38, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- TY BW. If we can fix that background, and then move it to be centered, then I think this image will suffice for my purposes. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 17:47, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ok for some reason it seem to refuse to move further to the right no matter what I do. IT could just be an issue with the preview or I could just be trying to do things wrong. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:50, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

- I think I did it. I tried making it a negative number to move it farther right, and I think that worked. Let me know if you'd like me to tweak it any more. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:12, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
- Location is good. I don't think either myself, nor BW, thought of using a negative number. TY kindly good sir. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 21:17, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

- Yes, ask somebody else to do it. (That makes me the anti-hero.) It's a matter of making a new version of the file with the background photoshopped out, but that's more than what I want to undertake. --Tryptofish (talk) 21:19, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

We've been bamboozled
So I've noticed that you reverted "blanking" from an IP on People's Liberation Army Ground Force. I did the same (twice!), not realizing that an IP added this blatant hoax a few days ago. So we basically put a hoax back on the page because it was an IP removing it. We were boozled, had, fooled if you will. LilianaUwU (talk / contributions) 06:03, 19 February 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of State Disaster Response Force Uttar Pradesh
Hello Moops,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged State Disaster Response Force Uttar Pradesh for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.
If you don't want State Disaster Response Force Uttar Pradesh to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

New page reviewer granted
Hi Moops. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Salvio giuliano 23:15, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Salvio giuliano: thank you for ultimately moving forward with granting this, albeit with a trial. @Atsme: has been a great coach throughout the NPP school experience. Is it often the case that people still require trials even after the NPP school? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:24, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well, every request is reviewed on its own merits. In your case, the alternative to a trial period was an outright rejection, because as Harry and I said over at WP:PERM your experience in deletion-related areas is limited and csd and afd nominations are a large part of npp. Salvio giuliano 23:38, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think I was more so asking also about the NPP process. I had to move around a lot of my real life schedule to properly complete that, weeks in the making. So I was just curious about the process in place for other new editors that I may also advise in the future in terms of expectations related to this particular perm. I had originally been rejected some months back, and so the NPP school was recommended to me. TY kindly. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 23:42, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

Menē Inc. moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Menē Inc., is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Reads like a brochure article.. scope_creepTalk 07:47, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
Question
Question, do you have any way to contact you off-wiki such as Discord? If not that's perfectly fine. I just think it'd be nice to just chat with ya about various things in general. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:36, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Do I not have email enabled? I forget if I do or not? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 01:37, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Email isn't really the best way for me for a multitude of reasons (personal and convenience) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:39, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- I see. Well unfortunately no, I do not have Discord. Though I do have an email that I used to sign up for this account if you want to reach me off of WP. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 01:40, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I really only use email for things related to Wikipedia that shouldn't be discussed publicly on-Wiki. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:41, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well I think I actually do have it enabled. Drop me a line. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 01:43, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

- You should make yours blue with black background on your talk page and user page too! — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:55, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe. We'll see if I'm not lazy. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:08, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- I think if you took what I just dumped on both my TP and UP and tried to tweek the colors it could work out nicely. The black background I am not sure about, but definitely I bet you could at least get your name to be blue, and then add a black background maybe with some TeaHouse help or someone else more technical than myself. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 03:10, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- If you'd like, I can try and tinker with it on your pages, since you have helped me so, SO many times in the past as well. No pressure though if you want to leave it as is. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 20:07, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Nah I'm good. I could probably figure it out quite easily but I don't really care how the text there looks. I've tried changing the font I have Wikipedia displaying in, to something different but couldn't actually figure out how to do so. I know how to do it when making a webpage from scratch with HTML and CSS but this is different ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:13, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Impressive. Your technical expertise far outshines my own then. I am still waiting on my tea cup thing to have the white background removed by the way. Any way to 'bump' that request? Like in old forums? Or is it something we just wait on at this stage? TY kindly. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 20:15, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ah I forgot to update you on that. There are way too many issues with it to make it easy to make it transparent because it's in a glass cup which is see through. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:17, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Oh I see. Do we need to look for a different image then? If this one is 'unworkable'? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 20:17, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

- How does Scratch teach you HTML and CSS? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:30, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- It doesn’t. I use Scratch to create projects using code blocks. Tails Wx 21:37, 20 February 2023 (UTC)

- Ah I forgot to update you on that. There are way too many issues with it to make it easy to make it transparent because it's in a glass cup which is see through. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:17, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- If you'd like, I can try and tinker with it on your pages, since you have helped me so, SO many times in the past as well. No pressure though if you want to leave it as is. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 20:07, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe. We'll see if I'm not lazy. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:08, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- You should make yours blue with black background on your talk page and user page too! — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:55, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes. It seems to have works out perfectly. I am please. TY for noticing and commenting so quickly. It came out nice on both my user page and talk page too I think. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:54, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- You did the bold green correctly. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:53, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Happy to accept fan mail via email, but sadly, I do not have Discord. ;) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 02:32, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- I was also thinking about chat off-wiki with you, such as Discord. Hey, it’s fine if you don’t, I’ll email you instead ;) Tails Wx 02:28, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Well I think I actually do have it enabled. Drop me a line. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 01:43, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I really only use email for things related to Wikipedia that shouldn't be discussed publicly on-Wiki. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:41, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- I see. Well unfortunately no, I do not have Discord. Though I do have an email that I used to sign up for this account if you want to reach me off of WP. — Moops ⋠T⋡ 01:40, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- Email isn't really the best way for me for a multitude of reasons (personal and convenience) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 01:39, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
Moving the convo back to the left again. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 20:34, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- No problem! I'd be glad to teach you some of what I know if you want (not all of it is relevant to Wikipedia cause some of it isn't used on Wikipedia) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:46, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- I’ll tag along with Blaze Wolf. I’ll teach you some of what I know as well! Tails Wx 00:37, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- Moops, if you ever change your mind about Discord, here's the link to the NPP one. Congrats on becoming a reviewer. –Novem Linguae (talk) 12:35, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
- That's funny, I came here to invite Moops to the NPP Discord and found this thread. You're always welcome and I encourage you to come by (even just casually) if you ever need a second opinion or have any questions. Hey man im josh (talk) 19:55, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks! Maybe I will need to finally check this 'Discourd' thing out.. :) — Moops ⋠T⋡ 00:45, 24 February 2023 (UTC)

- Honestly, I do not really see the benefit of it other than for the instant communication aspect. For private communication, there is email, but for instant discord I guess allows for a more fluid and dynamic conversation I guess? — Moops ⋠T⋡ 05:16, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- It does. And the Wikipedia discord has various channels for Wikipedia's sister projects (Commons and Wikidata I know for sure are there) as well as a few channels for some Wikiprojects here such as WP:VG. There are also the various ways Discord lets you create channels besides the ones already set up via threads. There are also channels where you can ask for some technical help in which VPT might not be the best place to ask. You can also discuss stuff about Vector 2022 there (there's also a thread for weird and strange edit summaries). You can also ask for opinions on things you find in an article (but please no AFDs or things you !vote on as thats WP:CANVASSING). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:20, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
- There's also a channel on Wikipedia Discord named #offtopic, where there's some things you can talk about that is not relevant to Wikipedia, just to chat and have fun! :) Tails Wx 14:23, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
