Hi, I am in England and have been expanding this article ever since it was first shown here in September 2008, seven years after cancellation. Was it shown in the Netherlands? If so, did they change the title as I would like to add it to the article. From youtube correspondance it is very popular in Eastern Europe. In the UK it is shown 9am at weekends. I am sure the broadcasters think it is a childrens series.REVUpminster (talk) 07:34, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Your RfA
Great going in your RfA. I was one of the users who was a bit surprised (and angry) by your answer to Q3. But as I reread it, I thought that you have been very truthful unlike few RfA candidates who try to boast their excellent behavior. However, your answer was more apt and correct than the others'. Good luck in your RfA. I am pretty sure it will pass. Pmlinediter Talk 15:57, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I came across you at your RfA earlier, checked your credentials (as you do!) and, you'll be pleased to know, I argued in favour of your adminship. However, just now, through the NP Patrol, I've come across this article, Request for Deviation and I'm rather flummoxed as to what to do with it! It doesn't meet any of the WP:CSD as far as I can tell and I'm reluctant to prod it or send it to AfD, so I thought, since you seem to have an interest in spacey things (excuse the technical term!), I'd bring it to your attention. There seems to be some good information in there, though I'm not familiar enough with that area of wikipedia to say definitively that it's not repeated elsewhwere. So, as an unofficial optional question, I would ask you, what the **** am I suuposed to do with this? If you'd reply here and leave me a talkback I'd be much obliged. Kind regards and good luck with the RfA! HJ Mitchell Articulate 11:52, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Your request for adminship has been successful and I have added the extra tools for you. Spend some more time on the admin reading list and be conservative with the tools, particularly blocking, as it is generally better to try to diffuse a situation than hit it with a grenade. - Aww, I missed your RfA!!! I just noticed your edit to MediaWiki:Common.css, and I thought: "What!? When did TheDJ become admin? He wasn't admin some weeks ago." See, I have noticed your CSS and javascript expertise, and we sure need more admins with that expertise. So since some weeks I have the following ready-written message in my to-do list that I was planning to put on your talk page after I had checked up on you a little more:
- Adminship?
- Hi TheDJ. I have noticed your excellent work and technical expertise around our CSS and javascript pages. But since you are not yet an admin that hampers your work there. And from what I have seen you are knowledgeable, patient and polite in other areas too. Is it okay if I suggest you to become an admin?
- Ah well, I guess I will have to delete that text from my to-do list and do what is left to do:
- 1: Hit myself in the head for forgetting to put your "future" RfA page on watch, so I won't miss if anyone else nominates you.
- 2: And say this: Congratulations to your adminship TheDJ! It was long overdue! :))

Translation Popups Gadget Proposal
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to try out my gadget proposal. I have placed some of my comments in the proposals file you made your comments in.
I thought I would tell you that on most browsers you can simply select (up to 500 characters) text, hover the cursor within that text and then the selected phrase is translated in a popup window.
This works on IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Epiphany. It does not work on Opera and Safari due to their incomplete handling of ranges in javascript.
As to your other concerns, I can change the style (the yellow color) to anything the community wishes. I can also lower the popup window so it does not conflict with the title popups you mentioned. I haven't tried out the WP:POPUP gadget yet but will look at it in the next day or two. Google translation services is a free service. They don't charge for it.
My pitch for the code as a gadget is that there are 1 billion people who read English as a second language. Many of them are intermediate readers in that they can read around 90 percent of an en.wikipedia.org article but need help with 5 to 10 percent of the words. Tens of millions of these people would read English Wikipedia articles. They could use a tool like this. It would be of genuine use to them. I am an intermediate reader of French and Spanish. I use the tool to read French and Spanish articles in Wikipedia. While I can get by mostly in French I actually need the tool's help in Spanish. I'm sure many other people would be in the same boat.
Thanks again for looking at the tool.
Endo999 (talk) 23:34, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
As per your comments I have done the following:
1) the background color of the popup is now beige. It can be set by a variable in monobook.js 2) all variables and function names now have SC prefixed to them 3) when the cursor is over a link with a title the popup now appears below the title (42 pixels lower) 4) when NavPopups are on and the cursor is over a link the popup now appears above the navpopup, that is, above the cursor. Otherwise the popup appears at the cursor as before.

Translation Popups Gadget Proposal - Reply
I sent this message to you 2 days ago, but left it in the previous section, so I don't know if you read it.
As per your previous comments I have done the following:
1) the background color of the popup is now beige. It can be set by a variable in monobook.js 2) all variables and function names now have SC prefixed to them 3) when the cursor is over a link with a title the popup now appears below the title (42 pixels lower) 4) when NavPopups are on and the cursor is over a link the popup now appears above the navpopup, that is, above the cursor. Otherwise the popup appears at the cursor as before.
I test for the presence of NavPops by testing for the javascript variable 'popupVersion'. It seems to work well.
Thanks again for trying out the code. From reading your user page I believe you are Dutch. Perhaps nl.wikipedia.org may be interested in this code as a gadget.
Endo999 (talk) 20:43, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, looking a lot better now. Looking at the popup with an inspector however, I still see a lot of hardcoded CSS, and the html is a bit messy as well. The popup really needs a padding of 0.5em or something, because the text is to close to the edges. And if you add a 'x' in the top right to close the window, then I would definitely consider making this a gadget. Well done.
- P.S. though I'm dutch, i'm not active on the Dutch wikipedia :D —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 23:56, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

Translation Popups Proposal - Reply 2
Hi there,
Thanks for the positive feedback. I have done most of what you have asked for (I think).
1) CSS is now all in the AppendCSS call in monobook.js
2) some of the popup html code is simpler now
3) padding is now in the popup window
4) an X appears in the right hand side of the popup window
5) the links within the popup window now have consistent css about them
6) the avoidance of tooltip popups and NavPopups is as before. (Apparently, Navpopups do not work in Epiphany 1.6.1 -- it's a nice browser otherwise).
Please tell me if you need any more changes. You can probably just change the css in the monobook.js file for most changes to the popup window.

Can you or have you developed Qui so that it is a minor edit or even not an edit in my Contributions? Thanks. Wireless Keyboard: Chat 14:25, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
- It isn't possible for Qui's functionality to be changed so that it doesn't require an edit (well, it might be possible for someone with an account on the toolserver, but I'm not sure the devs would appreciate that type of use). It should be trivial to allow individuals to set Qui's edits to be minor, though, and it may be an idea to have Qui do this by default. 「ダイノガイ千?!」(Dinoguy1000) 17:47, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Carbon Monoxide timings TheDJ 2009-05-18 10-00.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. - You cannot do this, because this category is blacklisted. It is one of the categories that you need to add by making use of a template. In this case {{disambig}}. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 18:21, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- However in this case, hard drive should point to "Hard disk drive", because that is by far the most common meaning of the term. You should instead create a page Hard drive (disambiguation), that can be linked to from the top of Hard disk drive. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 18:26, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Top icon template
Hi DJ! I have a request: Would you please edit Template:GA user topicon so that you can choose to have them say either "This user wrote ___, which is a good article." or "This user helped ____ become a good article." (Like the FA top icon template says)? As it is now, when you use that icon, it says you wrote (created) the article, which in probably 99% of the cases, isn't true, the people who help get articles to GA/FA are not likely the same person who actually created the article. I tried to figure out a way to do it, but templates aren't really my forte, lol. ~*Hugs*~ Ariel♥Gold 20:25, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Translation Popups Gadget Proposal
Hi there,
On our last communication, over a month ago, you said you would add my Translation Popups javascript code as a gadget on enwiki. You said you needed a name for it and then you would add it. Are you still going to do this, or have you changed your mind? I am aware you have not been spending much time on Wikipedia in the last 2 months. I have put quite a bit of time into this gadget and I think it is a useful addition to the Wiki user interface.

I have simplified the arrangement within the popup window as per Yug's instructions. I believe some of the HTML concerns you had will be alleviated by these changes.
- 1) removed Close Window link
- 2) changed ie, English:French to ->French
- 3) placed the language designator and X on the same top line
- 4) changed the Source: Google translate page? to just Source: Google
- 5) I have arranged this above Source link on the right margin at the bottom of the popup

About the Image on the "Sinhalese people" page.
Isn't it possible for you to simply search the images of those people on Google and see if they're copyrighted? There are duplicates of them in random places on the web, so it would be very difficult to find their origins. Or is it alright if you put the image on, until someone reports it in violation of copyright (if it actually IS in violation, that is), in which case you may put the old image back on.
I simply found these images through Google Image search. The current image has some people who aren't well-known at all even in Sri Lanka, it's too random and may even appear sexist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metalnine (talk • contribs) 11:56, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

"potential load errors due to JS 30 day caching"
Importing a non-existent script causes no errors whatsoever. For example, try adding importScript("thispagedoesnotexist") to your monobook.js. No need to make a mess of the logs by moving, blanking, deleting, undeleting, and deleting again... —Remember the dot (talk) 22:15, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

MedalTop template marked done, but no change?
You marked it done, but no change to Template:MedalTop is visible to me (last edit is 2008-08-10). Is this some weird caching thing, or did you forget to hit "Save page", or is it something else? Eubulides (talk) 03:22, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Megan Fox
According to the NPOV, I found the following there:
"Keep in mind that, in determining proper weight, we consider a viewpoint's prevalence in reliable sources, not its prevalence among Wikipedia editors."
By that, does that mean what I think? That regardless that the Megan Fan Boys (and lets not kid ourselves and say that is not what they are, and I don't mean that as a slam, it just means that I think they are going all out to protect Megan because they are fans, which I admit I was too until I saw GI JOE the movie and Sienna Miller). Anyhow, Ive posted sources and two of them (the MSN one and the ABC NEWS one) meet the standards of Wikipedia for Biography of Living People. Those other guys are fighting to keep the paragraph out, and for now I can wait but at the same time, just because they perosnally don't like something (and that is what they are doing) and are claiming Consensus is needed is not the issue: they are objecting to it because they personally don't like it. Just because a lot of people claim they don't want something or that it is not good enough; if it is truely good enough, and lets not kid ourselves, the sources are just fine, that is what is needed for inclusion.
My two cents, I can wait 24 more hours and then put it back but at the same time, at the noticeboard, we need a judgement on it, up or down. Whippletheduck (talk) 01:30, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- No you misinterpret it. It means that the importance of something is determined by how important a reliable source will consider the fact to be. So think of it like this ? If she is 60 years old, and someone writes a 300 page biography on her life so far. Would this event be one of the 15 chapters, or maybe just a page ? That is what determines DUE weight. By spending an entire paragraph on this little fact (regardless of it being "small time news" atm) in this relatively short article, too much emphasis is put on small event in this persons life. That is what it means and nothing else.
- Also waiting out the 24h to reset your 3RR is not a way to get around a block. If you are not cooperating and persistently undo'ing the work of multiple others, then you will get blocked regardless. The 3RR rule is a simple point of reference and not the holy grail of "not being blocked". You should be wise not to call anyone fanboy again. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 01:42, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
Well I have not reverted anything (yet)since this morning, so I dont see how this is even relevant. But 3RR goes both ways, doesn't it? I've put in a sourced verifiable edit that meets Wikipedia standards so what is stopping me from doing it to them?
And what is wrong with calling them fanboys, I mean it more affectionately then anything else, it is not a flame or slam or anything. I actually have no problem with them doing what they are doing, I mean, when this controversy started when she made the statement, I largely looked the other way and ignored it because i enjoyed looking at Megan enough to look past it. Unfortunately for Megan, Sienna Miller has taken her spot on the cute scale, so now I am more inclined to do what we are supposed to do as editors and put in something relevant.
The fact that people are moving so fast on 3R sounds like they are trying to spike this, which I find rather amusing then anything else
Onto the article issue, under these parameters ANYONE can remove ANYTHING that is not favorable no matter how significant or well sourced it is, and that is against what Wikipedia is about. I can summarize it down to a few sentences, truth be told, but make no mistake: the MSN and ABC NEWS establish sourcability, which is what is needed for biography of living persons. Give Megan more time and she may well make additional statements that warrant an entire controversy section like Brittany Spears of Lindsay Lohan and we will have even more to put in. HotCat
Can all registered users use HotCat? I'm not interested in using it myself; I was just surprised that a relatively newly-registered user could use it for his third edit, especially since that edit was to add a nonexistent category to my talk page. Would it be possible to tweak it to prevent it being used on talk pages? I can't imagine the benefits of having it used on talk pages, although admittedly I don't know much about it. Nyttend (talk) 02:00, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, all users can use javascript and gadgets. And everything is possible, but I rather have "expected" behaviour than "non-understandable" behaviour for the users. I don't think "blocking" it from a certain page will be very helpful. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 11:25, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Topicons
When you edited a number of topicon templates on Friday, you appear to have changed the "icon_nr" parameter to "icon-nr", which has broken many existing transclusions of those templates. The templates that are affected are: {{Rollback}}, {{Oversight topicon}}, {{GA user topicon}}, {{FA user topicon}}, {{Email user}}, {{Checkuser topicon}}, {{Bureaucrat topicon}}, {{Administrator topicon}}, {{Bot topicon}} and {{Autoreviewer}}, although for some reason {{Accountcreator}} uses the alternative name by design, and so it still works. Please could you check these. Thanks. --GW… 12:31, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- Damnit. As you might notice, Accountcreator is the top listed one. I propagated the mistake that was already present in that template. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 12:33, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. You might want to leave the mishyphenated version in the accountcreator template as well as the correct version, as some earlier transclusions of the template may be using it. --GW… 12:38, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- I'm gonna add a tracker to find it's usage and correct the transclusions. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 12:39, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

- Hmm, well we'll see. I made it sort last now. Most people will never know it is even in the category that way. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 11:49, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think they will, because they aim to clear this category by giving all the articles their specific template. Yes, let's see what happens. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:08, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Sharebox custom
Could you make a version that only includes Email/PDF? The current version makes it take forever to load a page on Wikipedia because it's calling out to the Share This web site which itself seems to be lagging during the day, thereby causing me to lag. - allstar▼echo 18:26, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
- They were upgrading their servers this week. That might be part of the problem. All the elements are rendered by the addthis servers, including the email, print and pdf icons. So it is a bit hard to separate that from the other parts. —TheDJ (talk • contribs) 14:00, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

- If the answer is YES, can we juts add new ID as it (see editing mode)

- Hey Mr.DJ! Thanks a lot for giving us a hand on fr:... I asked Steph48, who is admin on fr:, to add your ID's suggestions on the main page. The IDs will be : "accueil-lumieresur" and "accueil-actualite". Now the titles (h2) for mobile main page would be : "Lumière sur..." and "Actualités et événements". If you have any questions or comments, feel free to ask. Thnx. Antaya (talk) 21:09, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
