Naval Station Validusia was located in the Expansion Region's Bes Ber Bikade sector. It was used to refuel capital ships of the Galactic Empire's navy, and at least fifteen starships, including an Assertor-class Star Dreadnought, could dock at the space station at the same time.

Description[]

Naval Station Validusia was a space station orbiting a blue-colored celestial body[1] in a star system that was situated in the Bes Ber Bikade sector[3] as part of the Western Reaches portion of[4] the Expansion Region.[3] The station was thirty-one kilometers long and twenty-one kilometers wide and was seventeen kilometers in height.[2] It featured a central body with two tower-like structures of similar height, one at its top and one at the bottom. Naval Station Validusia was equipped with starship docking installations, including extended docking arms, at both its central body and bottom tower. Multiple large spheres of different sizes were also attached to the station's exterior.[1]

Naval Station Validusia could refuel dreadnoughts and battlecruisers. At minimum, its facilities could accommodate the simultaneous docking of one Assertor-class Star Dreadnought, one Bellator-class dreadnought, three Allegiance-class battlecruisers, two Secutor-class Star Destroyers, and eight Imperial-class Star Destroyers.[1]

History[]

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Naval Station Validusia was used to refuel capital ships of the Imperial Navy. At one point, Imperial dreadnoughts and battlecruisers awaited refueling at the station, with two Assertor-class Star Dreadnoughts, one Bellator-class dreadnought, and three Allegiance-class battlecruisers being present at or near the facility. At the time, Star Destroyers of the Secutor- and Imperial-classes were also docked at the station, and Altor-class replenishment ships, Vigil-class corvettes, Lambda-class T-4a shuttles, Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wings, and TIE/D Defenders were all also present in its vicinity.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

"Here's one of the awesome vistas brought to life by Ansel Hsiao, a talented artist whose original ship designs had excited fans for years before Erich [Schoeneweiss] brought him aboard for Warfare."
―Jason Fry, on the illustration of Naval Station Validusia in The Essential Guide to Warfare[2]
Imperial Drydock IV

The appearance of Naval Station Validusia was inspired by that of Imperial Drydock IV (pictured).

Naval Station Validusia was introduced in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. In the book, it was illustrated by Ansel Hsiao.[1] The latter's rendering of the station's docking arms was inspired by the appearance of[5] Imperial Drydock IV, a facility that appeared in[6] the June 1993[7] Tour of Duty: Imperial Pursuit expansion to Totally Games' video game Star Wars: X-Wing[6] of February 1993.[8] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the star system containing Naval Station Validusia in grid square L-15.[3]

In the endnotes for The Essential Guide to Warfare, Fry gave the dimensions for the station that were canonical with respect to the Star Wars Legends continuity[2] and which Hsiao had provided earlier.[5] In the endnotes, the name of the station was formatted as "Naval Station Validusia."[2] This article assumes that the non-italicized form of the name used in the book itself takes precedence.[1]
