Treasure Ship Row, also known as simply the Row, and nicknamed Dirtdock by the Corellian Security Force, was a large, open-air market located in Coronet City's Blue Sector on Corellia.

Description[]

Treasure Ship Row was located not far from Coronet City Spaceport and in between Meteor Way and Starline Avenue. It was a large street that consisted of many storefronts on either side and hundreds of stalls that ran down the center. It offered a variety of goods from all over the galaxy, sold by people of many different species. From food shops to clothing stores to cantinas to antique stores, Treasure Ship Row was one of Coronet's finer locations, despite its location in Coronet's notoriously dangerous Blue Sector. It was known to be a very bright and colorful location, as the storefronts were painted many different colors, the tents were many different hues, and the street was lit up by large signboards advertising vendors. Some of the storefronts were merely unsuspecting doors lit up by tiny lamps, where illegal business took place. At night, half of the vendors would close their stalls and reopen them as carnival games, sabacc salons, tattoo parlors, and betting shops. The other vendors never closed at all.[3]

It was a very popular destination, as travelers from the spaceport often passed through it while entering the city. Venders at the market stalls would holler at people walking by, trying to convince them to buy their goods, which would then have its price haggled down normally by more than half if the people chose to patronize the vendor. The street was often filled with the sounds of street players and the smells of the many different foods, perfumes, and animals there.[3]

History[]

Growing up in the last years of the Galactic Republic, Han Solo frequented the Row. While he was in school, a story went around that the lights outside the unmarked doors that could be seen by humans were color-coded, but no one Solo met could explain what they meant. At one point, Solo met a famous actor at a theater on the Row by talking his way backstage.[3]

In 11 ABY, Corellian Security members Gil Bastra, Iella Wessiri, and Corran Horn visited the Fel Swoop, a cantina on the Row.[2]

By 18 ABY, the market was abandoned. The stores were boarded up and the stalls disappeared. All that was left were some weather-beaten materials from the stalls and broken folding tables. Weeds and trees grew in the street and the air contained a scent of rotting wood and stagnant water. While Solo and his family accompanied his wife, New Republic Chief of State Leia Organa Solo on a trade summit, Solo walked the length of the market and thought back to when he visited it growing up.[3]
