What’s new in tvOS 18 for Apple TV
Here are some of the new features and enhancements in the latest version of tvOS. Not all features and content are available in all countries or regions or on all Apple TV models.
New screen savers (tvOS 18.2). Turn your idle screen into an animated playground for Snoopy and Woodstock on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later), showcase your Memories and Portraits, or open a window to the world with stunning Aerials. See Activate or change the screen saver on Apple TV.
SharePlay support for live sports (tvOS 18.2). Watch Friday Night Baseball games on Apple TV+ or MLS Season Pass matches and live shows with friends and family while on a FaceTime call. See Watch together using SharePlay on Apple TV.
Ultra-widescreen viewing (tvOS 18.2). If your TV or projector supports theatrical 21:9 aspect ratio, watch your favorite movies and shows on Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) in the Apple TV and FaceTime apps in an ultra-widescreen format. See Change video settings on Apple TV.
Up Next is now Continue Watching in the Apple TV app (tvOS 18.1). Use the Continue Watching row to find items you’ve added to your Watchlist or content you’ve started watching but haven’t finished. See Pick up where you left off in the Continue Watching row.
InSight. Get instant onscreen information about actors, characters, and music as you watch Apple TV+ movies and shows. See Get information about shows, characters, actors, and music.
Enhance Dialogue. Boost and enhance the dialog in the sound mix with a swipe of your finger. Enhance Dialogue leverages machine learning and computational audio to deliver greater vocal clarity over music, action, and background noise from Apple TV 4K to all your speakers and headphones, including HomePod, built-in TV or HDMI-connected speakers, AirPods, and other Bluetooth-connected devices. See Change audio options during playback.
Automatic subtitles. Miss a moment? Just press left on the remote up to three times to skip back 10–30 seconds and rewatch with subtitles on. Or press Mute to turn sound off and subtitles on. See Turn on subtitles and closed captioning.
Portraits Screen Saver. Showcase your best photography, artfully designed into stunning clocks. To switch, swipe up while viewing a screen saver. See Set up Apple TV screen savers.
Apple Fitness+. Redesigned Apple Fitness+ adds new personalized recommendations based on your workout history, better search, and award tracking. See Fitness app at a glance.
Dedicated camera. Set up an iPhone to be a dedicated Continuity Camera for FaceTime and compatible video conferencing apps on your Apple TV. See Use your iPhone or iPad as a web camera with Apple TV.
Live Captions in the FaceTime app. Live Captions for English in the U.S. and Canada let you read what others are saying on a FaceTime call—in real time on the biggest screen in your home. See Start or join a FaceTime call from your Apple TV.
SharePlay in the Music app. Let your friends DJ the mix from their iPhones when you listen to music on Apple TV. See Play music together using SharePlay on Apple TV.
