Why should I track breathing rate in the Fitbit app?
Track your average breathing rate during sleep to help you gauge your overall well-being. Breathing rate during sleep usually doesn’t vary significantly from night to night.
How does my Fitbit device track breathing rate?
Due to healthy, normal fluctuations, the time between heartbeats shortens when you inhale and increases when you exhale. The optical heart-rate sensor on your device tracks the small differences in these intervals while you’re asleep to determine your average breathing rate for the night. In the graph, your latest breathing rate measurement is from the longest sleep period over the past 24 hours. Only sleep periods greater than 3 hours are considered.
How do I see breathing rate trends in the Fitbit app?

Wear your device for at least a full day, including to sleep at night. Then check your stats:

  1. In the morning, open the Fitbit app and tap the Today tab   Health Metrics  .Tap breathing rate.
  2. See a graph of your nightly average breathing rate.
  3. For details, tap Learn More above the graph.
What factors can affect breathing rate?
Several factors can affect your breathing rate, including age, sex, weight, lung and heart conditions, anxiety, and fever.
