Cheetor (Animated)
From Transformers Wiki
The name or term "Cheetor" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Cheetor (disambiguation). |
- Cheetor is an Autobot from the Animated continuity family.
There's nothing Cheetor loves more than chasing down Decepticons at incredibly high speeds. However, when caught up in the thrill of the chase, he tends to ignore his surroundings; street signs, traffic, and any unfortunate Autobot who gets in his way are bound to be ran right over! Because of this, the precinct tends to keep rotating Cheetor from partner to partner; no 'bots in their right minds would want this turbo-revving young punk on their backs!
He's presumably popular at Maccadam's Old Oil House, since the bar has a picture of him on its menu. He likes pie.

Cheetor chased Ransack and Crumplezone at high speed through the streets of Cybertron for a "moving violation", knocking over cans of black paint on his car mode, terrorizing civilians, and trashing two blocks in the process. Once Cheetor caught up to the duo, they had just one question—"What did we do?"
After Cheetor took the perps back to the station, he was subsequently chewed out by his superior, Depth Charge, who informed the impulsive cop that he was being demoted and transferred from Transtech to Iacon Central. Moving Violations
After his transfer to the street beat in Iacon Central, Cheetor was assigned a new partner, Sideswipe. Sideswipe was mere cycles away from retirement, and had little regard for such an enthusiastic punk. Still, working together they managed to catch Rattletrap, a black market modifications entrepreneur. Looking to cut some time off his stay in the stockade, Rattletrap pointed a digit at The Motor Master and his Stunt Convoy as part of his black market dealings. Cheetor and Sideswipe arrived in Kaon Town to question the Stunt Convoy, only to find a squad of Decepticons in the arena! Or...so Cheetor thought.
As it turned out, the Stunt Convoy ran a stage show where they "disguised" themselves as Decepticons for the crowd, and to the amusement of acting commander, Sentinel Magnus. Cheetor's heavy-handed interrogation techniques got the partners tossed out of the Arena by the Magnus himself. Undeterred, Cheetor and Sideswipe continued their investigation into the Stunt Convoy's past...only to find out they had none. After catching the Convoy's Toxitron red-servoed at a break-in in Ironfist's mods shop, Cheetor and Sideswipe pieced together the plot. The arena in Kaon Town was right next to Trypticon Prison, where Megatron and the other Decepticon captives were being held. The Stunt Convoy were planning to use explosives stolen from Ironfist to stage a breakout because they weren't Autobots posing as Decepticons, but Decepticons posing as Autobots!
Cheetor and Sideswipe infiltrated the show already in progress to stop Megatron's breakout. With the help of Optimus Prime and some electronic paint, the Stunt Convoy was exposed and defeated. The Stunti-Con Job
At some point, Cheetor and Sideswipe were walking about the streets of Iacon when Sari, Arcee, and Blurr sped past them at super-sonic speeds. The Return of Blurr

Timelines
- Cheetor (Deluxe, 2011)
- Accessories: Telescoping grill energy saw
- A Transformers Collectors' Club-exclusive retool of Blurr, Cheetor transforms into a sleek, futuristic race car. A button on his hood deploys an energy saw weapon which can double as a shield or clip onto his back in robot mode. Due to his leg design, the very middle of Cheetor's rear wheels are the only parts that roll, while the sides do not. These parts stick out a hair, though, so his mobility in vehicle mode is unhindered.
- Cheetor's stock photography shows him with black outline paint around his eyes and "goatee", but the final version lacks this paint.
- Cheetor (and Ramjet) went up for preorder on April 27, 2011. He was available for sale at BotCon 2011, and pre-orders started arriving in mailboxes in mid-June. His box is too small to neatly contain the Tech Specs card he comes with, but it was crammed in there anyway, which resulted in the card's corners being bent on arrival.
Notes
- Cheetor is a veritable hoop of homages! Obviously, he's based on Transtech Cheetor, who was going to be an upgraded version of the original Cheetor. However, after Transtech was scrapped by Hasbro, Fun Publications utilized those designs for an otherwise-unrelated TransTech storyline featuring a different Cheetor. In the meantime, Transtech Cheetor's design was an inspiration for Animated Blurr, who Animated Cheetor is a retool of. Finally, his colors are based on the Beast Machines version of Cheetor. Phew!
- Early art of Cheetor gave him a tan face, but this was changed to silver to match the toy. His face still appears in the original tan coloration in "Moving Violations".
- Not unlike Chromia, Cheetor first materialized in multiple different, unrelated sources almost simultaneously, by sheer coincidence. In the last week of June 2010, Fun Publications announced at BotCon 2010 their intention to release a Cheetor figure that would be a repaint of Animated Blurr. Mere days later, The AllSpark Almanac II was released, containing an illustration of Cheetor that Bill Forster had created independently of Fun Publications' figure, which was also based on Blurr. As Forster's illustration was merely of Cheetor's head, it is basically a "repaint" of Blurr's own noggin so the connection would be recognizable, with two "ear" protrusions instead of Blurr's central fin, cheetah spots, and cat-like "face paint" based on KISS drummer Peter Criss's stage make-up. Fun Publications's version of Cheetor, on the other hand, received an entirely new head designed by Derrick J. Wyatt.
