Ore
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the ill-fated Autobot. For Shockwave's various experimental ores, see Regenesis. |
- Ore is an Autobot Duobot from the 2005 IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Ore is the blue Duobot, although rarely seen independently from his partner Shock, to the point that most other Autobots didn't bother remembering which was "the blue Duobot" and which was "the red one". Despite being damaged by the four-million year long Cybertronian civil war, he hasn't entirely lost hope and with the war over hopes to get a showy alternate mode and make friends with a formerly conscripted Decepticon. He has a drill in place of a left hand.

- First appearance: More than Meets the Eye #2
Over five million years ago, Shock and Ore were meant to be crewmates aboard the starship Unitrex-1 before it mysteriously vanished on the launch pad. No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases
The Duobots survived through the war together, making it through the battle surrounding the warship Hell's Point, surviving "the day it rained" on Babu Yar, escaping the Simanzi Massacre, where they braved the Crucible The Chaos of Warm Things and serving under Ultra Magnus during the battle over the Nightmare Engine. The Gloaming They also had a prankster streak, having welded Prowl's hands together for a gag once. Exactly how the uptight policebot reacted is unknown. The Chaos of Warm Things
As members of Special Operations, the Duobots reported directly to Prowl. One of their regular jobs was handling field agents like Skids and Getaway. Arm the Lonely Along with Drift, the Duobots were Prowl's agents aboard the Lost Light, charged with attaching a slow cell containing Overlord to the ship's hull and planting a tracer on its engines. How to Say Goodbye and Mean It Remembrance Day Ore struck up a conversation with Pipes on the launchpad, but planned to bail with his fellow Duobot when they reached a likely planet. You, Me, and Other Revelations
While exploring the ship, the Duobots ended up in the canteen where Shock tried to convince Ore that the Lost Light was in fact the lost Unitrex-1. Ore was uninterested in this mystery, just wanting to get their jobs done as quickly as possible. No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases Unfortunately, while Ore was trying to place the tracker near the ship's quantum generator, the engines activated. The Chaos of Warm Things In consequence, the blue Duobot was found by Brainstorm "totally mashed into the generator itself". Hangers On Shock covered up Ore's connection to Prowl, only to be killed by a Sparkeater soon after. The Chaos of Warm Things His body was left in the generator, where it later had its drill hand stolen by Red Alert. Interiors
The "psychic scream" of a Metrotitan later restored him to life, though still firmly embedded in the generator, freaking out Swerve. Blinded and unaware of his exact condition—Swerve having been warned by Perceptor that panicking Ore could cause a random quantum jump—Ore had a long conversation with Swerve (whose voice he mistook for Pipes, slagging Swerve off in the process, leading the motormouth bot to pretend to be Pipes) on life, the war and the Afterspark. Ultimately, when the Titan teleported away, Ore vanished from the engine block. Exactly what happened to him is unknown—Swerve believed Primus had intervened and sent him to the Afterspark, but the more practical Skids suggested that his revival had bound him to the Titan and he had thus been teleported along with him. Notes
- In case the point of the names is not clear, try saying "Shock and Ore" out loud in an English accent.
- It is possible Ore hails from Polyhex. "No Guns, No Swords, No Briefcases" had Shock sign his name as "Shock of Bitrex", but "Anomie" includes a "Shock of Polyhex" on the Necrobot's memorial to the "Disappeared". It may be that even the Necrobot couldn't tell apart Ore from Shock, and thus mistakenly classified Shock as the disappeared one with Ore's hometown.
Foreign names
