Synopsis

Autocracy8 megs and pax together.jpg

In Iacon, Zeta Prime is assuring the Senate that his methods are working when his Citadel suddenly comes under attack from the combined forces of Megatron's Decepticons and Orion Pax's defected officers. While their troops keep Zeta's Omega Destructors and vamparc cannons busy, Megatron and Orion air-drop into the Citadel and onto the Prime himself, who accepts their challenge and shoots down Megatron. Orion relieves Zeta of his vamparc ribbon, but he doesn't give up so easily and in turn relieves Orion of his arm.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, Ironhide is approached by Ultra Magnus and his unit, who have also turned on Zeta Prime after learning of his crimes. With their help, the rebel Autobots defeat most of the Omega Destructors. Inside the Citadel, Megatron fights Zeta Prime and finally kills him with a point-blank fusion cannon shot to the head. Zeta's troops flee and the last Destructor is destroyed by Shockwave.

As the situation cools down, Orion Pax requests a medic... and is shot in the back by Megatron, who announces that he has outlived his usefulness.

Notes

  • In the text story "Bullets" (specifically the hardcover version) as well as More Than Meets The Eye #3 and #4, it was implied that Zeta Prime was assassinated in public, likely by Megatron with a large sniper rifle. Zeta Prime's death here still resembles the hints given in these stories, but not exactly to a T. His head is still "comprehensively-emptied" as described in Bullets, but Megatron kills him with a point-blank fusion cannon shot instead of a sniper's bullet.
  • We don't know how many Autobots turn on Zeta like Magnus did. Starscream says "the Prime's troops are in retreat", so some have remained loyal.
  • Ironhide is in contact with Broadside before Magnus' team show up. We'd never seen Broadside in Pax's strike team and they're the only Autobots at the start of the fight, so either he defected really quickly, he was a Decepticon at the time, or Ironhide is talking to a different Broadside.
  • Springer is shown to be under Ultra Magnus's command before the war, yet in Sins of the Wreckers #5 he is shown to be created during the Great War.

Errors

  • On page 2, "Destructor" is misspelled "Desctructor".
