"But, truth is... the game was rigged from the start."
Skuxxoids are an intelligent reptilian species that often sell their services to the highest bidder as mercenaries for credits. They have scaly skin and stand about half as tall as the average Transformer. They tend to use large asteroid ships as their primary mode of transport.
Eh, they'd sell out to anyone for the right price.

"...I didn't WANT this job, I HAD to take it! I've got a wife and kids! I HAVE to deactivate you! Look, a guy's got to make a living, don't you understand?!"

A Skuxxoid was hired by the Quintessons to cause an explosion at the Galactic Olympics, providing cover for a team of Sharkticons to abduct Ultra Magnus, Kup, and Spike Witwicky. His job done, the Skuxxoid withdrew to his Rockeroid spacecraft, but was pursued by Springer and Arcee. The cowardly alien attempted to surrender to the two Autobots, but when it became apparent Springer wasn't interested in taking prisoners, the Skuxxoid—building upon the Autobots' own misconception—lied and told the pair that it was the Decepticons who had hired him. The Autobots allowed him to flee in a shuttlecraft, from which he then reported to the Quintessons to update them. He demanded a bonus for his services, and the Quintessons agreed: the bonus was that he would be allowed to live. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1 Springer and Arcee would use the purloined Rockeroid to rescue Rodimus Prime and Grimlock from the Decepticons on Chaar, causing the Decepticons to mistakenly believe that it was a Skuxxoid who had come to the Autobots' aid, with Swindle commenting on the mercenary nature common to the entire race. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2

The Skuxxoid was next seen "having a few yuks" in the vicinity of Goo 8739-B, using a cannon that fired death crystals to punch holes in space debris. Spotted by Blast Off, the Skuxxoid was coerced into handing over the weapon (which he claimed was "a birthday present from his uncle") and a map of the planet Dread where the crystals could be found. Chaos This experience didn't stop him from working with the Decepticons in the future, though; he would later be hired by Galvatron to kill the traitor Octane. The job wasn't particularly appealing, but with a wife and kids to take care of back home, the Skuxxoid accepted. First, he tracked Octane to Junkion and tried planting a bomb on his ship, but Octane survived the blast. Next, the Skuxxoid followed him to an alien space station, where he lured him into a restaurant by offering him discount vouchers. Unfortunately, the rambunctious patrons of the diner got in the way of every subsequent attempt the Skuxxoid made to take out Octane, crashing into him, throwing off his aim, and, uh, eating his gun. At his wits end, the Skuxxoid just leaped on Octane's back and starting trying to beat him into submission, ranting about how he didn't want the job anyway; Octane easily overpowered him and demanded to know who had hired him, and the Skuxxoid quickly gave up Galvatron's name. Starscream's Ghost

Despite his failure, the Skuxxoid would be hired by Galvatron for a second time, and, still in need to cash for his kids, the alien was in no position to say no. Working with his new partner Slizardo, the Skuxxoid was tasked with infecting Cybertron's new power generator with anti-electrons. Though the pair successfully completed their mission, Grimlock deactivated the generator, causing the anti-electrons they had placed in it to vaporize. Unaware of this, the Skuxxoid and Slizardo returned to Galvatron expecting payment, and instead found themselves facing his wrath. Fortunately, Galvatron was convinced to spare the pair when Slizardo told him where he could locate more anti-electrons. Grimlock's New Brain

Prevenge

Voice actor: Hal Rayle (English)

The Skuxxoid bought a used, home-made dimensional transporter off the internet, and planned to use it to get his revenge on the Transformers for constantly dismissing him. Unfortunately, the device didn't come with instructions. The Skuxxoid went through with his plan anyways, transporting random Cybertronians from throughout the multiverse into an elaborate, though highly ineffective, death-trap he had built. The Skuxxoid tried to threaten his prisoners through various manners, all of which fell flat, eventually forcing him to reveal himself. Unimpressed, Snarl punted him away, putting an end to his pitiful plot. Prevenge

Solila's training quickly allowed the two to escape the Skuxxoid, fleeing deeper into the ship. Content that the dangers would handle the two, Skuxxoid looked them up them in the database, finding that they had no bounties. Once the two had freed the Prosecutor, the Skuxxoid met them in the hangar bay, warning them not to trust the Quintesson and offering them a deal; taking the unique alloy of their ship, something Slizardo would have use for, in exchange for an old Nebulan spacecraft. The two took the deal and Skuxxoid sent them on their way, even throwing in some questionable food as a bonus. Void Rivals #3

The Skuxxoid took the Prosecutor to Cybertron, hoping to trade him for something of value. Having nothing to trade with and even less patience for the Quintessons, Shockwave told the Skuxxoid to get out, and the bounty hunter led his catch away. Void Rivals #4

The Skuxxoid made his way to Quintessa, hoping to sell the Prosecutor back to the Quintesson Judge only to earn the Imperial Magistrate's ire. The Judge ordered the Skuxxoid to be prepared for a trial only for the trader to save his skin when he roused the Judge's interest in the Zertonians. Void Rivals #5

Delivering the promised ship, the Skuxxoid asked if he was free to go. Receiving no response, Skuxxoid quickly took off before the Quintessons could do anything. Void Rivals #6

The Skuxxoid retreated to a space station to reunite with Slizardo only to find that his friend had been hired by Hot Rod. Sufficiently cowed by the Autobot, Skuxxoid handed over all the data he had on the ship he'd traded to Darak and Solila. Void Rivals Energon Universe Special story

Notes

  • Fandom guesswork from the 1990s has led to actor Hal Rayle being credited for the role of the Skuxxoid in the Generation 1 cartoon for many years in various online databases, but internal Marvel Productions casting documents would eventually show that Corey Burton performed the character.[1][2] This misconception led to Rayle being cast to perform the character in the BotCon 2014 script reading, "Prevenge", the actor himself evidently unaware that he was not the character's original voice.

Foreign names

  • Japanese: Skuxxoid (スカックスゾイド Sukakkusuzoido)
