Today is set up day at University of East Anglia - tomorrow we welcome 42 speakers, over 60 industry specialists and more importantly 288ish D&T teachers and technicians. When we set out to run this conference, I was hoping for 100 maybe ? This is a reflection of the need to get back to the face to face. It also reflects the passion for our subject that staff have- especially at the end of a long year in schools. There is a lot written about the seriousness of where D&T finds itself -recruitment, actual content of what we teach and what the subject is, even down to the national qualifications. These questions are important… but tomorrow is about getting together and being a community again. It is an absolute privilege and delight to be able to support our wonderful D&T National Community.
