Nice to see you

[edit]

Nice to see you around. Thought we'd lost you for a while there. Hesperian 05:11, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, although I had the feeling you were still about :)--cj | talk 13:44, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And from me too. I was a bit busy today and only popped in to update the template. I just cut down the image on T:DYK/N down to 100x100 ready to go and you simultaneously updated :) . Good to see you back again.... Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:31, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, traditionally I have always put the current stuff into the archive at the top. It seems as though it is common these days. Nowadays, anyone can fill out the next update, so that non-admins can participate. Anyone can move them back to the nomination page as well if they disagree. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:35, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I estimate perhaps 20-30% of the preparation into the loading zone is now done by non-admins. It would encourage less inclined or busy admins to participate because the work now comes in smaller bits. Sometimes a few busy admins will step in if it is already prepared for them. There is no rule for using it, up I use DYK/N as a sandbox anyway. If I am going to update directly I don't move the credits, I just paste into N and use the previewer, then cut again to the main page. If I do N with the intention of doing the real thing, I don't move the credits, just the hooks and then do the credits straight from DYKT. I do find that the N option encourages admins who are otherwise disinclined to update, because sometimes when I update in the Australian afternoon, I will reload N, and I tend to notice that the next update afterwards is usually moved into place at most 8 hours later if it is already filled. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 06:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The re-addition to the main suggestions page is the drawback, especially if there were special circumstances, or if there was a wad of old discussion that was removed when it is moved to N. Once there was a large article which went from 25k to 35k and it was on the N, so I deleted it. But there was a special circumstance that the 25k version was a copyvio so it was actually a 0k ->35k and it caused a bit of a mixup - this was explained in the original nom but was removed when it was processed into N. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:06, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move

[edit]

Hi ! I noticed that you moved Horsfieldia anita to Horsfieldia (butterfly). I am assuming you did this because it is a monotypic genus, but I am unable to ascertain the same. There is a Horsfieldia genus among plants as well. Shyamal 10:57, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images

[edit]

On my talk page, you posted warning that several of the pictures which I uploaded recently to the Maine Diner and Hope Cemetery articles may not be able to be used legally on Wikipedia. However, I retrieved all of these photos from Flickr, and I was very careful about choosing ones that said "This photo is public." Therefore, I am working under the assumption that by public, I am able to use those images to help illustrate to people what an article is about, and give them a valuable image to walk away with. I really don't see why I would not be able to use these pictures in the articles. If you could bring me into the light, it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ben 12:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy! Back in May 2006 you participated in an AfD discussion on the Anna Svidersky article. There is currently a Request for comment on the talk page of the Svidersky article aimed at resolving a disagreement over the state of the article and the use of the Anna Svidersky title as a redirect to the Mourning Sickness article that was created during the 2nd Svidersky AfD. I hope you don't mind the interruption. Any additional or outside input would be greatly appreciated by all the editors on the Svidersky page. Thank you for your time. Polymer Banknote

[edit]

Hi,

You undid some changes to Polymer banknote which I am unsure was vandalism, or if it was, it was also an apt edit. I reviewed the PDF, and whilst it gives information on the banknote itself, it does not actually give the two year value quoted in the article. As such I have reverted your revert ;) User A1 02:14, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yay! The article got in the front page!

Hey, thanks for the notice that my nomination got on the front page. I'll be working hard to improve all the related articles like Stendal Nuclear Power Plant (which could have been the nomination itself!). -Theanphibian (talkcontribs) 08:42, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Generations

[edit]

Hi PDH, hope I wasn't too bold about Talk:Generations (book). Let me know if you'd like to discuss this further, I'm very open to discussion. I do think that clean-up around the pop-history of [[Strauss and Howe] is really important, and I'd be happy to participate in discussions cleaning it up, and getting Strauss and Howe out of articles like The Lost Generation, an important literary movement. Cheers! --JayHenry 04:34, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I decided that I don't really want to get involved in that particular mess. But I totally agree that most of those article should be rolled into the article about the book - there are both notability (undue weight) and IP issues with reproducing their whole "theory" at length in wikipedia. --Peta 04:37, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good god, your user page just scared the crap out of me. (When I left my first comment I came directly to the talk page.) I see you've recently returned from a Wikibreak, so I don't blame you for wanting to avoid this mess two weeks after returning. However, I think there are a lot of editors who have been wanting to clean up the Strauss and Howe articles for quite some time. We might be able to get some momentum going if we ask the right people. --JayHenry 04:57, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hooray~! Thanks for taking the lead with the Generations project. This Strauss and Howe mess is really overdue for a merge. I think a lot of us have really made that case, and the Strauss and Howe defenders just haven't materialized. I think you might do better off dumping the cuts onto Generations (book) for the time being, other wise the Strauss and Howe people might get upset. But thanks again for taking the initiative~! --Dylanfly 13:24, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
glad to join. I agree with Dylanfly that the best way is to merge the idiosyncratic uses to their book, which probably does count as notable enough fringe social science for a single article, remove their peculiar lists from the articles on the real "generations" as used by people in general, and edit the paragraph about their views in those real articles to a more appropriate wording. eg "The term is used in a somewhat different sense by Strauss and Howe. The really difficult work, of removing the misleading navigation template, seems to have been accomplished already. DGG (talk) 03:50, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
incidentally, the trick to avoid having every reference on a talk page backlink from the article forever is to use a colon before it, like I've done above, after the format [[:whatever]] . The useful link from here will still work. 03:50, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

how to do it

[edit]

it is incorrect to do the merges without having it open for discussion as provided by WP:MERGE and listed at the Wikipedia:Proposed Mergers page. Don';t rush things--they have lasted long enough, and if it is done out of process it will be harder to support when challenged. I strongly suggest you place all the necessary tags, listed the articles, and meanwhile revert the changes you have made to the articles until they have been discussed. I dont want to see this good initiative go wrong. DGG (talk) 05:24, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No content in Category:Dwarf boas

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:Dwarf boas, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:Dwarf boas has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:Dwarf boas, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Fair use disputed for Image:Davidmack zzz poster.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Davidmack zzz poster.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Remember the dot (talk) 19:04, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:ACTbushfireinquiry.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:ACTbushfireinquiry.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Tuffy.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 14:09, 18 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Liftarn 14:09, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Wonder_Years.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Wonder_Years.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 14:42, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Nerica4.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. Hi, Petaholmes/PDH, I've copy-edited the lead(II) nitrate article from the Chemicals wikiproject, after it was recentely demoted from its FA-status. Last time around, you contributed to the voting process. Would you please be so kind as to provide feedback in its now running FA re-candidacy? Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Flora of australia.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flora of australia.jpg.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 05:10, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I noticed that you speedy deleted Cephalectomy. If I recall when I visited it last week, it was about a heavy metal band that wasn't particularly well known.

This is convenient to me, because I am more interested in the obscure medical term.

I know it is a bit obscure, but it means "removing the head", as an alternative word to decapitation. It is really very interesting, so I thought belonged in the wiki. After all, this is about teaching people new things, isn't it?

Anyway let me know if its okay to go ahead and create the article. Dyinghappy (talk) 21:25, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since you didn't reply (and I notice you haven't used this account in over a year) I have gone ahead and recreated the article. I guess I will see if people let it stay. It is a real word, and I think would educate people, which is the whole point to Wikipedia, isn't it? Dyinghappy (talk) 13:43, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Jason Webley

[edit]

An editor has nominated Jason Webley, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jason Webley and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 23:00, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:AUD2.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:AUD2.jpg.

Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:59, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Alfred Edments, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Alfred Edments. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Michael Somare.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? BlueAzure (talk) 22:21, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of James King (pioneer)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on James King (pioneer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement [of http://gutenberg.net.au/dictbiog/0-dict-biogI-K.html#king1]. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Fair use rationale for File:Irving Gill.jpg

Proposed deletion of List of characters in the Power Stone series

[edit]

The article List of characters in the Power Stone series has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Constists entirely of unreferenced content and original research; most of the article is a game guide, and the rest is a bunch of episode summaries.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 02:24, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Skyhook air.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Skyhook air 1957.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Skyhook air 1957.jpg]]. Orphaned non-free image File:Ester Kamatari autobiography.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Ester Kamatari autobiography.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. JaGatalk 22:53, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello PDH! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 8 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

GA reassessment of Stem cell

I have conducted a reassessment of the above article as part of the GA Sweeps process. You are being notified as you have made a number of contributions to the article. I have found some serious concerns which you can see at Talk:Stem cell/GA1. The artcile appears to contain many copyright violations. I have placed the article on hold whilst these are addressed. A tag has been placed on File:Coho salmon.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:False ragweed.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:False ragweed.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 06:59, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

   ==File:Long-tailed mouse.jpg==
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Long-tailed mouse.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. Note, if you did create this file, you may want to upload it to Wikimedia Commons, which will allow the image to be accessed by all Wikimedia Foundation projects (which include the various localized versions of Wikipedia)

If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —innotata 16:32, 10 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Vigna caracalla.jpg.

You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 16:40, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Biological terminology question

[edit]

Hi PDH!

Since you still seem to be editing sporadically, and might have an automatic alert from user talk page modifications going... You're apostrophied at Talk:Alternation of generations#Unhappy and contradictory development of terminology, concerning some paleowikish edits of yours. Your comments are welcome, especially if you incidentally remember the edits, or elsewise may elucidate modern academic usage of e.g. the terms alternation of generations or heterogamy. Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

[edit]

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. Hi, you created this article in 2005. I've added the Proposed Deletion template because it remains an orphan and is duplicated by Joyous Entry of 1356 which is a fuller article and is not an orphan. DeCausa (talk) 16:22, 25 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of imminent suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next several days. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Michael Heidelberger.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Michael Heidelberger.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 23:26, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of change

[edit]

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
