High Speed Railway Line In Construction Between Italy And France
SAINT-JULIEN-MONTDENIS, FRANCE - APRIL 5: Workers excavate the Turin-Lyon base tunnel for high-speed train on April 5, 2023 in Saint-Julien-Montdenis, France. The works of the Turin-Lyon high-speed train are constantly progressing and the whole project, strategic for Italy but very opposed by the population, will be completed as scheduled in 2032. The cross-border section of the new Lyon-Turin freight and passenger railway line is under construction: 65 km from Val Susa to Val Maurienne of which 57.5 km consists of the Mont Cenis base tunnel. The construction is supervised by Tunnel Euralpin Lyon Turin TELT-SAS, a Franco-Italian company in charge of the construction and then the management of the transalpine rail link Lyon - Turin.
