True ✔️ or False ❌? General Arnold commissioned then famed aerospace engineer and mathematician Dr. Theodore Von Kármán to head up a group of scientists and engineers tasked with surveying the technical advances of friend and foe alike to “make me a report titled Toward New Innovations,” helping launch the postwar Air Force’s R&D program? #ICYMI, FORTRESS' are built to protect and maintain vigilance over a specified area - and to test the future of electronic components used in space-based tech. The Radiation Tolerance Research on Electronics for Space and Strategic Systems, or FORTRESS, building held a ribbon cutting ceremony earlier this year to launch into just that support of both the United States Air Force and United States Space Force. #AFResearchLab | #SpaceTech | #USAirForce | #USSpaceForce | #RibbonCutting

As 2024 comes to a close, join us as we celebrate some of the year's highlights! February marked a milestone in space exploration commemorating the 30th anniversary of the “First Light” images captured by the 3.5-meter telescope at the Starfire Optical Range. The telescope is the second largest in the DOD behind its sister 3.67-meter telescope at the Air Force Maui Optical and Supercomputing Site (AMOS) and has made huge impacts around the world. The 3.5-meter telescope remains a leader in research and innovation in space imaging technology within AFRL’s Directed Energy Space Electro-Optics division. The division continues to support United States Air Force and United States Space Force missions in space domain awareness, imaging and tracing, and plans to continue for the foreseeable future. #AFResearchLab | #STEM | #AFRLSpace | #StarfireOpticalRange | #USAirForce | #USSpaceForce

AFRL 🔬 and Wright State University 🎓 are teaming up! Researchers from the Air Force Research Laboratory and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base now have access to work throughout Wright State University’s campus thanks to an expanded partnership agreement. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base personnel can now utilize other areas of Wright State University's campus, including labs, classrooms, office space and even on-campus housing if the need arises. “This partnership offers Wright State students and faculty hands-on experience through internships, cooperative programs and research projects while supporting workforce development for AFRL and WPAFB. By linking academic expertise with cutting-edge research and real-world applications, the collaboration creates a robust ecosystem for innovation, talent cultivation and contributions to national security," said Wright State University President Sue Edwards, Ph.D. #AFResearchLab | #AFRLInYourCommunity | #AFRLOutreach | #AFRLPartnerships | #WrightState | #WrightPatt
