Retrofitted with our ammonia-to-electrical power system, the NH3 Kraken—a 1957 tugboat originally equipped with diesel generators and electric motors—took its historic maiden voyage on the Hudson River, powered by green ammonia, emitting zero carbon emissions. Last week, the Maritime Safety Committee met at the International Maritime Organization's headquarters in London to discuss the key issues impacting #maritime safety. A notable achievement was the approval of interim guidelines for ammonia-fueled ships, which marks a significant step toward adopting #ammonia as a marine fuel. The shipping industry is taking significant steps toward adopting low-carbon fuel alternatives in order to meet the International Maritime Organization's goal of reducing emissions by 40% by 2030. A critical component of this #cleanenergy transition is educating the maritime workforce about these alternative fuels.
