Take a moment to watch ole sigmund (DTU - Technical University of Denmark) present his insights from CDFAM Berlin earlier this year. In addition to his commentary on AI’s role in topology optimization, he addresses giga-scale optimization, the pitfalls of suboptimal lattice structures, and how process variability can affect performance in real-world scenarios. Looking ahead, Sigmund underscored his team’s ongoing efforts: "𝘐𝘧 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 [𝘈𝘐] 𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘱𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘴 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵." We encourage you to view the full talk and consider how these emerging directions might inform your own research and development. https://lnkd.in/ghruBnAP #𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 #𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 #𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 #𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 #𝟯𝗗𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 #𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗔𝗠 #𝗔𝗜𝗶𝗻𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 #𝗦𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝗖𝗗𝗙𝗔𝗠

Future of engineering is getting transformed. Our partnership with PhysicsX, as they are developing their first LGM (Large Geometry Model), is reducing development time from months to hours. In one seamless operation, the technology creates novel designs, predicts lift, drag, stability, structural stress and other attributes for each shape, then optimises the design according to the user’s preferences. Thank you Robin Tuluie Ph.D. and Jacomo Corbo for your partnership! https://lnkd.in/dBUqcHVX

https://lnkd.in/eTFeuYEM Neil Gershenfeld's mind blowing closing keynote from CDFAM - Computational Design Symposium in 2023. The talk dives into the next frontier of fabrication—moving beyond traditional machines to self-assembling robots and programmable materials. He lays out a future where machines build themselves, parts assemble like digital code, and file formats give way to fully networked manufacturing systems. “The really interesting transition isn't analog is an additive versus subtractive the really interesting one hasn't happened yet it's assembly and disassembly it's the discretization the digitization and that's every bit as profound in construction as it is in communication and computation”

Wrapping up another year with the talented students of MACAD at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia! It's been a pleasure teaching the Complex Forming Seminar, an introduction to computational design using Rhino, Grasshopper, and Python. Over the past 8 weeks, James M., Eva Papaspyrou, and I have taught the basics of computational design. Today, the students will present their final task, developed over the past two weeks as a practical short application of the skills they've learned during the seminar. A huge thank you to our amazing jury for joining us to provide valuable feedback and insights, helping guide these students toward the next steps in their computational design journey: Giuseppe Bono Shahrzad Fereidouni Yomna El-Ghazouly Jana Semaan Photo Credits: re:habitat by Angeliki Maragakis and Anzhelika Ignateva #ComputationalDesign #Rhino #Grasshopper #Python #Education #DesignInnovation #IAAC #MACAD
