All smiles from this little one in Côte d’Ivoire! Many children in the country are currently missing out on access to healthy food, micronutrients and essential vitamins, which is putting their lives at risk. With partners, UNICEF is working to prevent malnutrition and ensure children have a chance to survive and thrive.

The girl was found floating in the water off the coast of Italy’s Lampedusa - alone, wearing a life jacket and clinging to two tyre tubes - in the middle of the night. She had no drinking water or food and told rescuers that the boat sank in a storm after departing from Tunisia. This is the third deadly shipwreck of migrants in the Mediterranean in recent weeks. Since 2014, nearly 31,000 people have died or disappeared while migrating across the Mediterranean. This includes hundreds of children, who make up one in five of all people migrating through the Mediterranean. The majority are fleeing violent conflict and poverty. The rights of children on the move need to be protected at all times during all phases of their migration journey. Details: https://lnkd.in/g_fZP8R5

Over 500 million. That’s how many children under five have had their births registered in the past five years. Yet, too many children remain unregistered and unaccounted for. UNICEF is calling for urgent action to ensure every child is recognized and protected. https://lnkd.in/dmrVSzjV

This is the story of 11-year-old Junior (name changed), recruited by armed groups in Haiti. See what followed and how he has turned his life around. The number of children recruited by armed groups has risen by 70 per cent in just a year in Haiti, driven by escalating violence, poverty, lack of education and the collapse of essential infrastructure and social services. #ForEveryChild, peace. #HumanRightsDay
