📢 New Insights on Disability Inclusion and Business Success I’m excited to share findings from Accenture report, Getting to Equal: The Disability Inclusion Advantage, developed with Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD). 🌟 Key Takeaways: • Companies leading in disability inclusion report 28% higher revenue. • Disability-inclusive businesses experience double the net income and 30% higher profit margins compared to peers. • Innovation thrives in inclusive environments: diverse perspectives bring unique problem-solving skills and new ideas that resonate with broader markets. What’s more, inclusive practices benefit everyone—from employees to customers. Today is the anniversary of the passage of the American Disabilities Act on July 26th, 1990. I would like to thank Accenture, with whom I have worked since August 1989 (crazy right 😉) for their commitment to #DisabilityInclusion and recent achievement of a top score of 100 on the 2024 #DisabilityEqualityIndex in all 8 countries! This one is personal and one of the many reasons I’m still here… What I didn’t know in 1990 was how important this would be to me 16 years later. In 2006, after the birth of my first child, I was diagnosed with #epilepsy, a "silent" disability. Why “silent,” you ask, because it's not real until someone has a seizure in front of you. For me it happened on a conference call when I stopped talking mid-sentence and was unable to communicate with my confused and worried co-workers for several hours, until l had recovered. After my diagnosis, I could no longer drive until I was seizure-free for 6 months, which took many years, and also made my role in “consulting” impossible based on the travel requirements. Thinking back to 2006 “Work from Home” was not common and for my role, it seemed unthinkable. So, what did Accenture do that made it easy for me to stay, continue to work, and thrive? For starters, they gave me flexibility. I worked with my doctors to better understand my capacity and ability to work moving forward, and more importantly, countless colleagues supported me. They helped me to find new roles that would allow me to work 100% from home until my health stabilized and my teams understood my ongoing need for flexibility as I navigated my disability. Today I offer my gratitude, appreciation, and congratulations to my entire Accenture family on this incredible achievement! To all those who share my disability or any disability, I say don’t settle. Work where you are valued and respected for being you! From my experience to yours, know that Accenture is a place that will welcome you with open arms and is creating an accessible, inclusive environment where everyone can belong and thrive.

We had an incredible time at the Success Stories - Inclusion & Accessibility Discussion Panel hosted by the Accenture New York Metro Disability ERG! In honor of the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), we reflected on our achievements and explored ways to further enhance our inclusive and accommodating work environment at Accenture and among our partners. A heartfelt thank you to our esteemed speakers: Dr. Mason Ameri from Rutgers Business School, specializing in disability employment and Adonis Wooten-Herron, Accenture’s North America Diversity Recruiting Team Lead. Together, we delved into critical questions such as "How can employers encourage a culture where employees feel comfortable disclosing their disabilities or requesting accommodations?", "How can we ensure that people with disabilities aren’t excluded from opportunities and avoid bias in an era of automated recruitment tools?", and "How can candidates stand out (be authentic, as Dr. Ameri emphasizes) in an age of AI-based recruitment?" The insights shared were invaluable, and the discussion was both enlightening and inspiring. We're excited to implement these learnings to continue being leaders in Inclusion & Diversity (I&D). A special thank you to the New York Metro Disability ERG leaders - Adam Some, Nick D'Angelo, M.S.C.S, Maria Martin, and Natalia Gonzalez - for organizing this impactful event and to everyone who attended and participated. Your engagement and contributions are what make these discussions so powerful. 💬I’d love to hear your thoughts on these topics! How can we all foster more inclusive workplaces and ensure accessibility for everyone? #Inclusion #Accessibility #Diversity #Accenture #ADA34 #DisabilityInclusion #SuccessStories

For the second year, we are proud to take part in #PositivelyPurple, alongside over 100 Accenture offices globally — marking a significant increase in engagement from last year. As part of this initiative, we illuminate VEF office during 2 – 7 December, reaffirming our dedication to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace. What is #PositivelyPurple? #PositivelyPurple, led by PurpleSpace, is a global campaign highlighting the economic and social value of disabled employees. Timed to coincide with the UN’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPWD) on December 3, the campaign emphasizes breaking down barriers and fostering equal opportunities in workplaces worldwide. As Stella Young, a disability rights activist, said: “We are more disabled by our societies than our bodies and our diagnosis.” This philosophy drives our commitment to the Social Model of Disability, which focuses on removing societal barriers rather than viewing impairments as the problem. At Accenture, we aim to: Address systemic barriers to accessibility. Provide tools and resources for a barrier-free workplace. Foster a culture where all employees can thrive. In our part of the world, conversations about disability and inclusion might still feel new or less open. This reflects where our society is on its journey towards greater inclusivity and understanding. However, we believe that by fostering awareness, we can contribute to meaningful change. Accessibility in action VEF office building was built 120 years ago, at a time when accessibility wasn’t a consideration in society. Adapting these historical spaces to meet modern accessibility needs is undoubtedly challenging, but it’s far from impossible. It all matters because about 16% of the global population live with a disability, and creating accessible, inclusive spaces isn’t just important — it’s how we unlock potential and make room for real innovation. When everyone feels they belong and can contribute, amazing things happen. This December, let’s come together to celebrate the contributions of people with disabilities and take steps to break down barriers. Together, we’re #PositivelyPurple, working toward a future where inclusion is the norm, not the exception.
