I just had the unfortunate opportunity to watch Donate Life America latest video—a piece so appallingly tone-deaf that it left me feeling truly repulsed. Seeing it for the first time, I’m struck by how anyone could think this was the right way to promote organ donation. It doesn’t inspire hope or compassion. It alienates. It disgusts. This is among the worst examples of “awareness” propaganda I’ve ever seen. The leadership at Donate Life America—G. David Fleming, Alexandra Glazier Jennifer Milton George Herrera, Ronda Horstman, and others—should seriously question their judgment. This video reflects a staggering lack of empathy for patients, donors, and families, and a profound misunderstanding of real advocacy. Instead of honoring the life-saving power of organ donation, this video makes a mockery of it, leaving viewers feeling disconnected and disheartened. It’s shocking that these leaders, tasked with representing such a crucial cause, would approve a campaign this careless and offensive. This isn’t just an oversight; it’s a grotesque failure of judgment. They should feel deep shame, not pride, for this crude attempt at awareness that serves only to embarrass and alienate the very community they claim to support. If Donate Life America truly understood their mission, they’d focus on respectful ways to engage the public—ways that honor the journeys of donors, patients, and families. Publicly calling this out is necessary to prevent another massive misstep. What they’ve produced here doesn’t just miss the mark; it’s a black stain on their reputation, showing a disturbing detachment from the cause they’re supposed to champion. 💔 How This Alienates Patients and Recipients: • Tone-deaf portrayal • Absurd stereotypes • Insulting narrative • Mockery of experiences • Disconnection from reality 💔 How It Damages Public Perception: • Turns off potential donors • Discourages families • Reinforces harmful myths • Shows lack of empathy • Undermines trust 💔 How It Shows Leadership’s Failure: • Neglect of community • Outdated tactics • Detached priorities • Careless approval • No accountability Donate Life America, if this is the best you can offer, it’s time to step back and reassess. Real awareness demands integrity, respect, and understanding—not the cheap shock value of a poorly conceived video campaign.

3 years ago Donate Life America was responsible for the production and airing of this video which targeted a group of the population that had low organ donation registration rates. Young teenage and young adult males needed to see this kind of thing to get them to sign up it was postulated. Reaction in the Transplant Community polarized between "best" and "worst" reactions. I'm sure Coleman Sweeney would have approved. But I thought it in poor taste, like him. #organdonation #organtransplant #donatelife Alfred Sadler MD FACP

1 in 700 children are born with a cleft lip and palate. May 4th-12th is Cleft Lip and Palate Awareness Week and we are joining with @clapacommunity based out of the UK to share our story. Face the Future Foundation Board member Rena Rosen was born with a Cleft Lip and Palate and shares an excerpt of what she spoke about at our Glitter and Gold event back in November. She says, “When children or young adults are looked at and identified by textbook examples of Craniofacial anomalies needing to be fixed, we miss out on the full human being. Each person enters into medical spaces with their own story, their own experiences, and their own trauma. It is our job as at Face the Future Foundation to staunchly support CFC so that they can do their incredible work of creating that safe space where each individual feels respected, included in every step of discussion and feels as their unique experiences are valid.” Every face tells a story, what’s yours? Hey everyone! This #GivingTuesday, I wanted to share a bit about the work I've been doing with The American Institute of Dental Public Health (AIDPH), and what donating to us via our Givebutter page (https://lnkd.in/eUT5XG8B) means for us as an organization. AIDPH was founded with the belief that everyone deserves access to dental healthcare. Oral status has far-reaching impacts on overall physical and mental health - but marginalized communities often face overwhelming barriers to accessing treatment. To bridge the gap, AIDPH produces research on pressing issues in dental health, advocates for an improved dental health landscape, and educates dental professionals, policymakers, advovacy groups, and beyond on how we can work together to make sure the system serves *every* American. I've supported communications outreach for a number of exciting initiatives since I've joined the team, including: - A study on the state of dental care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Tennessee with Harmony Health - A report and summit for stakeholders in Iowa to create a roadmap for addressing veteran dental disparities with Delta Dental of Iowa - A webinar series exploring issues related to oral health in rural communities - Our third annual LGBTQIA+ Oral Health Week campaign - Our annual Colloquium conference, which brings stakeholders across the country to share and learn from each other's research, work, and expertise And lots more! Especially for a small nonprofit, securing donations for operations - the day-to-day, non-program-specific duties that keep an organization like ours running - can be quite the challenge. As we make our foray into fundraising, sending any gift this holiday season, whether it's $10 or $100, will help us continue in our vision of a justice-based oral health system at a time when disinformation is rampant, and funding for necessary healthcare infrastructure is increasingly under threat. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk! Feel free to ask me any questions about the work we do, and give today (https://lnkd.in/eUT5XG8B) to make a stand that dental healthcare is a human right, not a privilege.
Dental and public health advocates still have a valuable opportunity TODAY to support AIDPH’s mission of advancing justice and equity in oral health by donating to https://loom.ly/3ThvMUc. #GivingTuesday is one of the most important fundraising days for #nonprofits around the nation. By making a donation to AIDPH, you’ll help raise a voice for communities that have been silenced in oral health, and make a personal contribution toward meaningful advocacy, educational, and research initiatives. Today, we invite you to consider: 🌟 Setting up a $20 monthly recurring donation to support advocacy for veteran, LGBTQIA+, rural, and disability communities. 🌟 Giving a one-time gift of $50 or more to support research, education, and advocacy that advances oral health justice for historically excluded and marginalized communities. 🌟 Sharing our donation page (https://loom.ly/3ThvMUc) with your friends and colleagues to amplify our impact.

Really powerful conversation between Harpreet Matharu and Meena about organ donation in the South Asian culture and also about the importance of representation and the value of diversity in our Organ Donation Nursing teams. Let’s keep this conversation going across LinkedIn. Regardless of ethnicity, culture, religion, age or gender, let’s get talking about organ donation!
We are passionate about organ donation becasue we know it saves and improves the lives of many people. But many of the families who don't support donation, usually say they didn't know the wishes of their loved one. It may be a little awkward but we have to start somewhere. Listen to Harpreet Matharu and Meena speaking about their experience with family and friends from the South Asian community. NHS Blood and Transplant #organdonation #transplant #diversity #inclusion
