Building an exceptional reputation isn't about grand gestures - it's about consistently delivering more than expected.

A toxic leader won’t acknowledge these items you listed there for you will be replaceable. You have to work for a leader that can identify and acknowledge these items. However, I suggest still doing these until you find a leader who acknowledges these items.

I had this very thought a few days ago, how do I make myself indispensable in the workplace, what can I bring to the table that sets me apart from the rest.? Yes the points mentioned are of course valid, however I have noted that in the workplace where there is little to no knowledge sharing, staff who have been around for over 20years + now become irreplaceable because they sit with a wealth of knowledge, but they the very people who are resistant to change. It's really a catch 22 because most skills can be taught which make you replaceable any which way.

I agree however, let us make it 10 or more.If you are not in their list you are easily replaceable no matter what you are. You forgot ' network', ' close relations with hiring managers', ' say no to nothing' and so on.

In a world obsessed with efficiency, it’s the human experience that sets us apart. These 7 skills are simple yet profoundly impactful—they remind us that being irreplaceable isn’t about flashy tools or advanced degrees, but about how we show up every day. From a warm smile to owning mistakes, these actions create trust, connection, and an energy others want to be around. AI can automate tasks, but it can’t replicate the human touch. These skills aren’t just about career success—they’re about creating lasting, meaningful impact wherever you go.

4. One of the most liberating things as leaders we can do is admit to ourselves and others that we got something wrong and own it. Just wish more people would feel the same way. At all costs one should be ever mindful to avoid the “blame game”. I've learned that owning up to mistakes not only clears the air, it also helps pave the way for a level of genuine growth and trust.
