The UN Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona starts tomorrow, and I am excited to share my design for the poster introducing #CircularOcean, which marks the first step of our collaboration :) After visiting this innovative company in Peniche, Portugal, at the beginning of March, I have worked on visualizing the environmental and social commitment embodied in Circular Ocean's operations. (see the short video documenting my visit here: https://lnkd.in/e6UbwGki) #CircularOcean, alongside #PenicheOceanWatch, is part of Ocean TechHub LDA, a dynamic entity dedicated to merging the challenge of ocean cleanup with the principles of the blue economy. From collecting discarded fishing nets (significant contributors to global marine litter) from Peniche, Nazaré, and other coastal spots, to sorting by color and material, and ingeniously transforming them into plastic pellets, the process results in PENYLON, a remarkably durable and high-quality material with diverse applications, accompanied by a 92% reduction in CO2 emissions! Good timing for #PenicheOceanWatch during the UN Ocean Decade Conference, and many thanks to Mafalda de Freitas for the fantastic collaboration! #Poster #PosterDesign #Infographic #DataViz #VisualStorytelling #EnvironmentalCommitment #OceanTechHub #BlueEconomy #OceanCleanup #MarineLitter #SocialCommitment #OceanDecade24 #IllusIconsInfographics

#PFAS on the spot as a class of synthetic #chemicals as major #environmental and #publichealth concern in Italy: persistent and bioaccumulative, posing significant #risks to human health and ecosystem. Veneto: epicenter of PFAS Pollution since 2013 high levels were detected in drinking water supplies of several municipalities in Vicenza and Padua provinces. Investigations revealed that the contamination was linked to industrial activities mainly from a chemical plant operated by the company Miteni. Over 350,000 people (estimated) have been exposed to PFAS-contaminated drinking water. High levels of PFAS in the blood of residents with some individuals exhibiting PFAS concentrations up to 20 times the national average. The health impacts of this exposure have been significant. Increased incidences of thyroid disorders, cholesterol abnormalities, and reproductive issues have been observed in the affected population. Researchers have also linked PFAS exposure to a higher risk of testicular and kidney cancer. In response the Veneto government has taken measures, including the provision of alternative water sources, the implementation of water treatment systems, and the establishment of a regional registry to monitor the health of exposed individuals. Emilia-Romagna: high levels detected in the groundwater and surface water in Parma, Piacenza, and Reggio Emilia provinces. Investigations have revealed that this contamination is likely the result of a combination of industrial activities, agricultural practices, and the historical use of PFAS-containing firefighting foams. Local government has implemented measures to monitor and address the issue, including the establishment of maximum PFAS limits in drinking water and the provision of alternative water sources to affected communities. Lombardia also emerged as an area with significant PFAS contamination. Elevated levels have been detected in drinking water supplies in Brescia and Monza-Brianza provinces. The sources contamination from industrial activities to the historical use of PFAS-containing products. Local government has taken steps to address this issue, including the implementation of water treatment systems and the establishment of a dedicated PFAS monitoring program. The country's widespread industrial and agricultural activities, coupled with the persistence and mobility of PFAS compounds, have led to extensive environmental contamination and public health concerns. The time to act is now as the long-term impacts of PFAS contamination continue to unfold, so a good way is to attend next RemTech Expo in Ferrara as Environmental Technology Hub, specialised in the themes of #remediation, #regeneration and #sustainable #development of territories. #mitigation #riskassessement #soilremediation #waterpollutedsolutions but also to deep dive into #PFAS as #accountability, #risksmanagement and solve misunderstanding around them. Next month, our experts will be exhibiting at Remtech Europe - an environmental technology conference, specialised in the themes of remediation, regeneration and sustainable development. ♻️ We're really excited to share insight into our cost-efficient, versatile solutions for the waste recycling and contaminated soil sectors! 🌏 Ferrara Exhibition Centre, Ferrara, Italy 📅 18th - 20th Sept 📍 Pavilion 5, Booth B17 Book a meeting with the team ➡️ https://loom.ly/CjPEOTE #RemtechExpo #Sustainability #SoilRemediation

Joining Hands for a Greener Tomorrow: G+D Employees Take Action in Barcelona As part of the Let’s Clean Up Europe initiative, we, the employees of G+D, are proud to announce our participation in a collaborative effort to collect waste in the beautiful Collserola Natural Park close to Barcelona. This activity is not just about cleaning up; it’s a powerful statement of our commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. The Let’s Clean Up Europe campaign is a continent-wide movement that encourages citizens to take direct action against litter in our natural spaces. Last year, the campaign saw over 1000 clean-up actions across Europe. It’s a call to raise awareness, foster community spirit, and most importantly, have fun while doing something meaningful for our planet. At G+D, we understand the importance of sustainability and the impact of human activity on the environment. That’s why we’ve decided to roll up our sleeves and do our part. Collserola Natural Park, a green oasis and lung near Barcelona will be the focus of our clean-up activity. Together, we’ll comb through the park, collecting and sorting waste, and ensuring that it’s disposed of responsibly. This is more than just a clean-up; it’s an opportunity to educate and inspire. As we work, we’ll discuss the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, and share ideas on how we can all contribute to a waste-free future. We invite everyone to join us in this endeavor—let’s make a difference, one piece of litter at a time. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and share your own experiences in other clean-ups around Europe! use #cleanupeurope. Together, we can clean up Europe and create a legacy of sustainability for generations to come. #cleanupeurope#gieseckedevrient#employeeengagement
