Motif Neurotech completes FIH study of brain stimulator implant for treatment-resistant depression
US-based Motif Neurotech has designed the miniature brain pacemaker to precisely stimulate the brain to restore healthy circuit functioning to treat mental health disorders.
The study, published in the preprint server medrxiv, was conducted by the neurotechnology firm in partnership with researchers at Rice University, Baylor College of Medicine, and UTHealth Houston.
The millimetre-sized brain stimulator is indicated for treatment-resistant depression (TRD), a subtype of major depressive disorder (MDD). It is enabled by wireless magnetoelectric power transfer technology.

Medtronic secures CE mark for new Simplera CGM device
Medtronic has designed the all-in-one, disposable Simplera with a simple, two-step insertion process and improved user experience.
The latest no-fingerstick sensor, which does not need over tape, works in tandem with the InPen smart insulin pen, which offers real-time, individualised dosing assistance to help make managing diabetes easier.

INBRAIN Neuroelectronics gets FDA breakthrough nod for Intelligent Network Modulation System
The FDA’s BDD covers the graphene-neural platform as an adjunctive therapy for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
The INBRAIN Neuroelectronics system uses the two-dimensional substance graphene, which is formed of a lattice of carbon atoms that is only one atom thick.
INBRAIN Neuroelectronics’s neural platform technology combines machine learning software that decodes therapy-specific biomarkers and ultra-high signal resolution.

Exactech gets FDA 510(k) clearance for Activit-E polyethylene system

Activit-E is a highly crosslinked polyethylene of the most recent generation stabilised with vitamin E antioxidants.
The polyethylene system is said the latest addition to Exactech’s Vantage ankle portfolio.
The FDA clearance follows the Activit-E clearance for the Truliant Knee System, which was announced last month.

Biomerics completes expansion of Brooklyn Park facility in US
The expansion, driven by increased demand, will benefit the customers and consolidate the medical device company’s multiple facilities under one roof.
It will also expand the company’s engineering centres of excellence for complex extrusions, laser processing, advanced catheters and steerables, and final assembly operations.
Biomerics’ main facility at Brooklyn Park facilitates the design, development and production of complex and specialised catheters, steerable devices and delivery systems.
