Making Money Off Digg
Somewhere Jason Calacanis is having a big laugh. He found himself in middle of a firestorm when he decided to pay users to submit stories on the New Netscape.com. Digg community did not like it, but someone thought it was a good idea. This site matches users and submitters. Users get $0.50 every 5 stories they digg. Submitters pay $20 + $1 per digg. Business Week’s Best of the Web
Thanks to readers and well wishers, GigaOM has been named to the “Best of the Web” technology news site category by Business Week magazine. It is gratifying to find ourselves in such august company – SlashDot, Digg, Techmeme, and C/Net News.com. This is a big vote of confidence for our tiny little operation.
Katie, Liz, Robert, Wagner and rest of the team have worked hard to make it all happen. It is a testament to their hard work, that we got this far, and I just am proud to be part of this gang. Now this kind of boost wants us to work harder, get more scoops. Thanks Business Week. Also, a big shout out to Michael Arrington for TechCrunch being named the best tech blog, and rest of the bloggers who are on the list. They are all part of my daily reading habit.

Mary Jo Joins The Flow
My favorite Microsoft Watcher has left her old gig and started blogging for ZDNet. I love it, because it means more goodness, all the time. Big coup for our good friend Dan Farber, who will soon have a seriously successful blog on his hands. Mary Jo Foley is the gold standard for tech-oriented investigative journalism, and I have been a big fan for a long time. She gives her reasons in her first post, and in this exit interview.
