With 14 institutions enrolling more than 256,000 students collectively, the UT System stands as one of the largest public university systems in the United States. UT institutions produce more than 66,000 graduates annually and award more than one-third of undergraduate degrees in Texas, as well as about 63% of the state’s medical degrees. Collectively, UT-owned and affiliated hospitals and clinics accounted for more than 10.6 million outpatient visits and more than 2 million hospital days last year. UT institutions are among the most innovative in the world, ranking No. 1 in Texas and No. 2 in the nation for federal research expenditures. The UT System also is one of the largest employers in Texas – employing more than 130,000 faculty, health care professionals, support staff and student workers.

One of the most essential needs is housing affordability. As we continue to make progress in expanding affordable campus housing opportunities for our students — including this fall’s opening of the East Campus housing complex for graduate students and the housing scholarship launched last year — I am proud to announce this new housing endowment. Created in 2019 by the 86th Texas Legislature, the UT System-administered Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium is making significant strides in improving and expanding access to children’s mental health services. One standout initiative, TCHATT, now covers over 75% of Texas students, providing access to care for nearly 4.2 million students. In the past biennium alone, more than 27,300 students received over 129,300 telehealth sessions, reflecting the program’s profound impact. https://lnkd.in/g3EmDWGD #txlege
