SDRs can sell to 10 different titles or verticals if the offer/benefit is the same. If it’s not, then don’t bother.  Keep them focused on 1-2 titles or verticals. When prospecting, SDRs need to hone in on their service's value, offer, and benefit. If it’s too generalized, it’ll never resonate with the desired audience. It’ll fall flat. They’ll never hit quota. Focus breeds expertise. Expertise is what helps lay the foundation of interest and trust. If your SDR focuses on too many offerings, they will never be the expert. They’ll never generate interest and trust. Let your SDR have a narrow focus. Let your SDR become the expert at piquing interest on 1-2 offerings. That’s what we do at Alleyoop. It's been a little over two months into the new Mid-Market role at Dialpad & here is my biggest observation/learning/takeaway Treat every client like your only client. In SMB there is a lot of volume, in MM there isn't as much. I've had more time to create thoughtful slide presentations (who have I talked to, what did they share with me -- in quotes --, what was most important, why was that important, what else have I learned thus far, what more do I have questions on, what are we going to cover, why we are going to cover that). Don't get me wrong, marketing slide decks are great but something homemade & personalized hits different. Taking the heavy lifting off the evaluation team in keeping conversations documented, summarized, and in one place helps me to keep my ducks in a row and continue to drive high-value conversations. Another thing I noticed is super helpful for my clients (and me!) is a note repository document. In tandem with the slides that are constantly updated/added to, I think a notes page that is shared externally is huge. It allows me to be radically transparent with my clients about what I'm thinking, what I've observed from conversations, how that's related to other clients I've worked with, and the next steps I think that need to happen to make the buying process simple is big time. Generally, I'd like to think that I'm fine at building rapport just because who I am and how I communicate but I think the preparation, showing how much I care, truly listening, and proactively trying to think of potential concerns adds a whole other layer in becoming a trusted seller of software. So far so good, but, of course, I'm still figuring a lot of this out and trying what I think will work best -- because really, there is no perfect secret sauce. Any MM/commercial sellers out there that have any good tips & advice for a young buck starting off?

Referrals are the most underrated way to help revenue, retention, and CAC. But so many brands get stuck in the trap of thinking they don't work well enough to pay attention to. Building out new outbound sequences doesn’t have to be daunting! As long as you do your research 🧐 My team creates targeted vertical-based sequences, so before we get to the messaging + email framework, we have to do our due diligence beforehand. Here’s our process, simplified: 1️⃣ Understand overall #ICP 🎯 ↑ A quick case study refresh or sync with sales/marketing for use case narratives + other resources 2️⃣ Research target vertical ↑ Understand the industry inside + out! Pain points, overall marketing/tech strategy, trends, major players, etc… any info necessary for us to convey our solution solves their challenges 3️⃣ Build list + research target accounts ↑ For each account: Browse websites, social, publications, articles and BuiltWith to understand current initiatives as well as pain points relevant to our solution (#triggers) Once steps 1-3 are complete, we move on to the creative: 🟢 Sequence creation / messaging Every step customized to the account and/or title + industry - relevancy for the win 🏆 🟢 “ABT” - always be testing, a motto I have for our team 🙌🏼 It can sometimes take a village - and that’s okay! How to get better at sales. Record your calls. Listen to the playback. Pay attention to everything: - What you said. - Pauses. - Whether you're speeding up or slowing down. - Unintended filler words. - Hesitations that suggest you have a knowledge gap. It's humbling. You might discover you hear and feel things you didn't notice during the conversation. Words cannot describe the importance of this feedback in developing your skills.
