  • Opioid settlements: Transparency promised, but not always delivered. When states agreed to report their opioid fund expenditures, the goal was public accountability. But in many cases, the reality doesn’t live up to the commitment. In a recent NPR article, states were asked to share their progress. Here's what they found: 🔍 Some states meet only the bare minimum, leaving key details buried in bureaucratic jargon. 🌟 Others, like Minnesota, excel with clear and accessible dashboards. 💡 Without transparency, the public can’t hold officials accountable—or ensure funds are used effectively. Why it matters: This is more than data; it’s about honoring the lives lost and the communities devastated by the opioid crisis. Learn how we can demand better: https://lnkd.in/enQG4ZKP

  • New Years Eve is upon us! Let's start 2025 safely and strong. As we get ready to say goodbye to the old and welcome the new, we wanted to share the top safety tips from the American Safety Council: 🚗 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over—plan your ride ahead! You can always opt for public transportation, a designated driver, or Sober Ride programs. 🐾 Protect pets from noise anxiety with cozy indoor spaces. Fireworks can be overstimulating for critters so create a calm environment for them away from celebrations. 🍾 Open champagne like a pro: chill to 45°F and pop safely! Also provide non-alcoholic options and serve snacks to keep guests balanced. 🎆 Fireworks? Only if legal and handled responsibly. Leave it to the pros and stay clear of sparklers for kids. Let’s ring in the New Year with safety and smiles all around! From your favorite public health organization. ❤️ learn more: https://ow.ly/XsMv50UqPHP

  • 🌍 There's a growing need for home-based care… As the U.S. population ages, the number of homebound seniors is rising, yet many lack access to essential care: 👵 40% of homebound seniors live alone, increasing their risk of neglect and health crises. 💔 Seniors like Carolyn Dickens, 76, rely on rare programs like Mount Sinai’s Visiting Doctors, but these initiatives struggle with funding and limited reach. 🏠 Experts predict that more health care services will shift to the home in coming years—rehab, palliative care, even hospital-level care—but who will support those without family or caregivers? It’s time to innovate and ensure every senior can age with dignity, no matter their circumstances. Learn more: https://ow.ly/5AGu50UpmOc
