Rental Home - Need to set a temperature range and lock it down so renters can't change...

I use to have this setup and had the lock put on.  But apparently that's not working anymore AND I don't see options to set it again.

If I set a lock, no one is able to do anything on the thermostat without the lock.  What I want is to be able to renters to change the temp but just have a minimum temp they can set it to for the cooling.    Online info says there's a 'temperature range' option but I can't find it.

My nest thermostat is version 6.2-27

My Nest app is version 5.79.0

I actually don't know what generation this Nest Thermostat is and I can't find out where to locate that information.  It definitely is older though.

Thank you!

Lynn

You no longer see the settings described below?

Lock and unlock your Nest thermostat - Google Nest Help

I am able to lock/unlock the thermostat.  There are 2 issues:

1 - I had the system locked and a renter tried to change it (and the rental company confirmed this as did I) that even to change within the range, it asked for a PIN.  So that doesn't work.  A 'guest' needs to be able to change within the range.

2 - Everything I read says that while it's unlocked, there should be an option to define a range of temperatures...not the ECO or SAFETY but a range.  And then lock it.  I don't see that option anywhere anymore.

????

Do you have your thermostat set to Heat/Cool mode? If you lock the thermostat in that mode, unless you enter the PIN and unlock the thermostat, you won't be able to use your thermostat to adjust the temperature or change any settings. It’s only possible to make changes using the app in this scenario.

If you want guests to be able to adjust the temperature within a set range, it needs to be in heat mode or cool mode, not heat/cool mode. When locked in heat mode or cool mode, anyone can turn the thermostat's ring to change the temperature within the range you've set, but they won't be able to set the temperature outside of your range or change any of your settings.

That’s the first time I’ve heard that.  Maybe that’s why it used to work.  I must have set to heat/cold during our last visit.   Won’t be able to check until January, but I will tinker with that.  Thank you so much!!!
