Hey Google Nest Community,
We’re excited to announce that starting this week we’re expanding support for Nest Cam IQ Indoor, Nest Cam IQ Outdoor, and Nest Hub Max in Public Preview in the Google Home app. With this latest update, you can now transfer all Nest Cams launched as early as 2015 from the Nest app to the Google Home app in Public Preview. Now, for the first time you can manage all your Nest Cams in a single app - no more switching between the Nest and Home apps.
When you transfer in Public Preview you can:
In addition to familiar Nest app camera features, you can do more with your Nest Cams in the Google Home app than you could do before in the Nest app, including:
Nest Cam IQ Indoor + Outdoor users: If you’re already enrolled in Public Preview, you’ll see prompts in both the Nest app and in the Google Home app under the Favorites Tab with instructions when you’re able to transfer your Nest Cam from the Nest app to the Google Home app. Additionally, you can transfer your device by clicking on the camera you wish to transfer under the device settings. We’ll start to roll out access for users this week, so be on the lookout for the prompt. If you change your mind and want to continue using the Nest app, you will have the ability to reverse transfer your Nest Cam IQ Indoor and Outdoor devices.
Nest Hub Max users: If you’re already enrolled in Public Preview, you can now control and manage the camera on your Nest Hub Max in the Home app alongside all your other Nest Cams. You can also add your Nest Hub Max to the Favorites tab, so you can quickly see your camera livestream as soon as you open the app.
Learn how to transfer your device by referring to the Help Center for more information. Once you transfer your Nest Hub Max, you won’t be able to reverse transfer your device back to the Nest app.
Sample Google Home app images: You can ‘Favorite’ your Nest Hub Max and your updated camera experience will include a live tile view after you transfer your device (left image). You will also have the ability to view important camera history events (middle image) and timeline view (right image) in the Home app.
We will continue to invest in our Public Preview program and we value your feedback. Your input helps improve the Google Home app experience. Thanks,
The Google Home & Nest Team

Q: Why should I transfer my device to the Home app?
A:The Home app offers an easier, more personalized, and more organized way to manage all your compatible third-party and Google Nest devices in one place. This means you no longer need to switch between apps to get things done or tweak minor settings for your devices. With seamless compatibility, easy setup, and control from a single app, the possibilities are endless.
Q: Can I still use the Nest app after the transfer?
A: Yes, but the Nest app will no longer show live video or save event history from the Nest camera that you transferred to the Google Home app Public Preview. Your video history before the transfer stays in the Nest app until it expires. Google will still continue to support the Nest app and there is no change to the Nest app experience today.
Q: What if I change my mind and want to transfer my device back to the Nest app?
A: The ability to reverse transfer back to the Nest app will depend on the device. Visit our Help Center for detailed instructions on how to reverse transfer back to the Nest app.
